Hello,

My friends call me She. I hope to find some feed back from writing groups this way, since there's no writng groups in my area that I'm aware of. You see, I'm a private person. I don't trust easily through the web where information flows freely. I'm reaching out through this sight with encouragement from a friend to improve my... more »

Send some of your writing in. I'd love to read it. The people are very nice around here and you'd get a lot helpful advice.

Welcome. I look forward to your comments. It's difficult to see where some people hail from on Shelfari, so my version of English might be a little difficult for some people.

A "dialogue tag" is something that denotes which character is speaking, such as "he said" or "Jack said" "Jane said" etc. An "action tag" is where you use the action of the character to denote who is speaking the dialogue rather than a dialogue tag, such as "I guess I could go." Jack chewed on a fingernail. Jack chewing on his nail tells the reader that Jack is the one who just spoke. I hope this clarifies.

There is a lot to the editing process and if you read through some of the last few discussions, some of these are covered, what things to look for in your writing that agents and acquiring editors look for. You might want to go back farther in the discussions and look up one that discusses the different types of editors. You can learn a lot. Also, any of the previous discussions can tell you things to look for in your writing. The "Sins of the New Writers" discussions as well. There were several of those.

I hope this helps. Best of luck to you.

Oh, I agree - editing is so important, and it's especially nice to get others' opinion and feedback. I'd definitely end up editing, probably in May after I'm done with school.

haha, I'm terrified of even beginning to edit. I have one major piece that seriously needs some help, but I'd rather not think about the enormous project it'll be.

Ah, I like fantasy, although I've never tried to write it - yet. I've written a sci-fi with some romance in it, but I don't have a lot of experience in that area. How's it going?

Hey, I do like to write. Started with poetry, but I've expanded to stories and songs as well. What about you?
