Valentyne

Books, movies, music and more recently my love for poetry was revived.

I've been reading books since i could put B after A. I remember being all of eight and getting my hands on a book without pictures and taking my time reading it. My mom thought I'd flipped when i told her i was gonna finish it. There was no turning back as soon as...more »

You can order them from Barnes & Noble, Books A Million, or any other book store. The first one is Dead Until Dark. Happy reading, let me know what you think. Several people I work with are reading them and they love them. Easy reads.

    hello :)
yes ~ there is something to be said about just being a "worker"... sometimes i miss that now i am a boss.
it was my first day back at work today... when the day had finished, my 2nd in charge approached me asking what my secret was... or what did i "do to them"? i had no idea what she was talking about, until she told me what a hard time she had with them while i was away... and how "well-behaved" they were today now i am back!
well... that's not to say that i don't have days when i feel like she was feeling... sometimes it is like being back at school, i can't believe we are all grown adults carrying on like that!
i guess stress, and having to be around each other 40 hours a week has a lot to do with it!

haha... rather you than me... i've had a good day at home, not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow :(
i've had a few days off ~ at the time i booked them the intention was for "me" time... you know to read, watch movies, relax, do hobbies etc... but it never turned out that way as i have been working hard on the house... it was worth it though... must take more days off in the near future and have that "me" time that i am so in need of!!

    great... looking forward to it!
about me... well, you won't find me talking about my job with as much enthusiasm, lol. i work at our local public hospital, in the theatre department... sterilizing, and getting linen ready for operations etc... it's not much fun since i've been promoted to supervisor... now i have to be "boss" to those who were once "friends and team mates"... it's quite hard to do, not the job itself... but the staffing situation, i've had to deal with a lot of friction and fall-outs!
anyhow, i am qualified in travel and tourism, which i moved around NZ a bit ~ trying to break into this industry, before giving up and taking the first job that came my way to "pay the bills"... life's a b**ch.
i have done office jobs, administration, and retail work too... nothing particularly exciting :(
i love to travel... would love to visit kenya one day :)
wow, your son is 6 too ~ what are his interests? my boy likes dinosaurs, spiderman, Ben 10, he loves to draw... he's crazy about drawing, and he's a great swimmer, plays soccer, and does drama/music classes. can you tell he is an only child ~ thoroughly spoilt!
i'm a little older mum than you at 32 this year.
i'm off to bed now... zzzzzzzz...
but you can still reply when you're ready, i'll catch you tomorrow... i have no idea what time it is where you are?! it seems nearly everyone else on shelfari are active on here when i'm asleep and vice versa... you seem to be one of the few that is here at the same time as me :)

how old is your son? my boy is 6, i can't remember if we have chatted about our kids before?
also... what does authority of content involve... is that like censoring and rating PG/AO/M etc... or am i totally on the wrong path here?

wow, yes ~ definitely i would love to see your show ~ i'm so excited!
i guess it wouldn't be on NZ television (although we do have a big variety of international programmes~ this one seems a bit more niche market, tailored for Kenyan women, so is more unlikely that we would get it here)...
even if you could send dvds, that would be fantastic... i'll help out with the cost, or repay the favor in some way :)
    you are so kind!

jeepers... i thought i was busy, lol.
what type of programme is it that you will be working on? any chance of me getting to see it on TV?
hmmm... i was going to do a degree in journalism when i was in the uk... that was what i really wanted to do when in high school, there was a media and journalism college in my hometown... and then i moved here to nz and all my plans went out the window. oh well... that's life.
not too much to say about my family regarding media etc... my Dad has always been involved in radio since i was a kid... now he has gone back to it, but this time for a country music station... he's getting old, lol.
my brother has given the media industry up, he did a course on media studies, and worked on a few programmes... mostly were live comedy shows and reality series. our friend who is an editor works "freelance", and we often see his name on the credits of various tv shows.
as for myself, i have no claim to fame :( lol.

    wow! that's fantastic!
i'm so excited for you, and wish you luck on all your ventures:)
do you work in the media industry or is that one of the sidelines you are referring to?
i would love to hear all about it... (that's if you want to :)
and i don't mind private notes, if you prefer.
members of my family have dabbled with the media also, my brother has done some work with lighting equipment on TV, and helped with editing of programmes, we have a friend who is a TV editor, and my dad is a radio DJ... although i have never had the opportunity to do anything like that, i do find it exciting for others :)

    hi there!!
wow ~ you did so well to read that series :)
i say this because i only read the first book (gunslinger) and really struggled with it :(
however, i LOVED "The Talisman" which is also a fantasy type... i must get round to reading the sequel to that.
anyhow, i have been well thanks, although very busy ~ i hardly have any time to read...
my hubby has been away (in Australia) for a week... which has turned out to be the worst time that could possibly happen... as we have put our house on the market to be sold this week also... so guess who has been stuck with all the cleaning up and de-cluttering, and gardening, etc etc... it's such a mission!!
oh well, hopefully it will all be worth it :)
how have you been?? i hope you enjoyed your break, and are not working too hard :)
