Don't forget to sign up to pick one of this month's authors over at Author, Author. Check out who we're reading this month, and help us pick for next month. Just find the discussion titled "Sign up to choose February's author" and put your name in the hat by tomorrow (Saturday) evening.

Some seeds we start indoors in March under grow lights, others we plant direct in the soil. Peas and spinach can be planted in soil as early as St. Patrick's Day (so long as there is no snow) and other seeds are dependent upon the soil temperature. Some herbs are kept in pots year round, placed outside during the warmer months (tender perennials) while others are direct sown (basil, dill, cilantro, etc.).

Our herbs are used for culinary dishes, medicinal teas and just to watch them grow and bloom (some of theire scents are phenomenal !)

It was a while ago so I don't remember the details, but, there are several ways I choose a book. I check out reveiws in NYT and local papers, the new releases at Borders, recommendations from fellow book review groups, winners and runners up from various literary award sites, family and friends, and finally, the library online new releases and summaries. Because I read as much as do, about 1,500 pages a week, I can not afford to purchase books and depend upon borrowing from my library which has a sharing agreement with several dozen other towns. My local librarians have been taking my cue lately in some of their purchases. I don't read 'lite' and like many genres.

Hi Unbridled! I'm from the Author Author group and just wanted to welcome you to our group. March's "featured" author is Margaret Atwood, and we have two "secondary" authors, Guy Gavriel Kay and Charles de Lint. If you're interested, you can choose a book written by one of these three authors, and after you've read it, please come post a review and star rating so the rest of us in the group know what you read and whether you liked it or not. Happy Reading!
