I currently live in New Haven, CT, but was born and raised in Cleveland, OH. I'm a graduate student in biological anthropology. My primary research focus combines work in primate behavioral ecology and genetics, though I've also conducted research in human and primate evolution, morphology and life history, as well as ant biodiversity. I try to work in as many different fields and subfields as possible in an effort to broaden my horizons. Trying to keep up with current research in so many different disciplines requires me to devote large amounts of time to reading primary scientific publications. I think this is probably reflected in my book choices. I enjoy all sorts of both fiction and nonfiction, but if I'm particularly stressed or burned-out from work-related reading, I prefer books into which I can escape without much emotional or intellectual investment. Lately, this has involved diving into fantasy with the occasional thriller tossed in for good measure. I'm currently making my way through (and thoroughly enjoying) Robin Hobb's Farseer trilogies, The Hunger Games trilogy and Neil Gaiman's novels. Non-fantasy books that I hope to tackle in the near future are Anna Karenina, What is the What and Infinite Jest (I know, I know...).
When searching for new books, I usually feel like I'm fumbling in the dark. This is one of the reasons why I joined this website. I'm not really sure what else to put in this description, so I'll just end it here until I come up with more.
