I teach English 1 and Intervention reading to urban high schoolers. I am usually reading about 5 books at a time (one with each kid, one or two Young Adult for my students, and one for me). I most enjoy how reading changes people. I spend so much time reading so I have lots of ideas to share with kids. My goal is to help every kid to find that first book they LOVE, the one the makes them feel like a real reader. That is a life changing moment. That book for me was The Pinballs by Betsy Byars.
