OK. when you go to someone's home page, in the upper right hand corner under the search box, you'll see a blue button with a plus sign that says "add so-and-so as a friend." Click on that and after a short pause, it should turn green and say "friendship requested." Then once the request is accepted by whoever you are inviting, it'll say something along the lines that they are a friend.
