    yes, stels. lathe of heaven is a bit heavy... and you are right... sci fi tends to be very contemplative about life and death and all that which is why i prefer fantasy! : ) escapism at its best!!! i think you'll really enjoy patricia wrede's enchanted forest chronicles. start with "dealing with dragons.'
