Many of the books showing read on my shelf are unabridged Audible.com downloads to my MP3. I also get CD audible books on loan from the local Library. Many of the books showing read on my shelf are unabridged Audible.com downloads to my MP3. I also get CD audible books on loan from the local Library. Currently, I make a point to find a CD book that is 6-8 discs or less for listening to in the car as I don't have much of a commute and need to return to library in 2-4 weeks. This way I can listen to two books at one time, which so far has worked out not to be too confusing – only on a couple of occasions when the characters were very similar. I love having my books in the audible format because I can not only listen to them in the car, I can listen to them on my iPhone when doing tasks at home. There are many daily household odd jobs that are so much easier to get started on when listening to a good book. Right now, listening to books is my only opportunity to read and it has enhanced the quality of my life quite a bit -- to be able to read 40-50 books a year rather than barely four is really remarkable.

I enjoy reading (in order of preference) apocalyptic, dystopia & utopia themes; WWII Nazi Germany and Holocaust literature; psychology & mental illness; social commentary; non-fiction; memoirs & autobiographies; contemporary fiction.

Reading more books is giving me insight to so many more authors so that my previous favorites have been thinned out to include a rich entry of new favorites. In addition, I am finding that I like non-fiction much more than before and notice that many of my book selections are YA titles. I love Shelfari as I am an avid reader of book reviews -- in fact, a bit obsessive about it and this website feeds right into that! « less
