I love to read... pretty much anything. Well, anything that makes a good story, that is.

    Hi There -
So I just now noticed your first name. I always wondered and not sure why I never asked.
So wow - you continue to awe and amaze me with all that you have accomplished! I really am impressed and it is a pleasure reading about it all.
Wish I knew you at tax time! I always do my own, and usually wind up muttering to myself for days. I'm soooo old-school - still use the U.S. mail. Now they don't even send you forms anymore unless you call them and ask for them, guess they want everyone to do it on computer. Guess I'm too old to change over to that (for now).

Saw your 5 star rating for 11/22 - everybody has been telling me its great, I'll really have to look out for it. Hope it turns up at the used book store soon. I try to go early on the days they put out the new books, otherwise, all the good(and newer) stuff is grabbed up fast. I do get audio books really cheap there. Right now I'm listening to "Trinity"/ Very long and very good. All about Ireland(but it is a novel)So far It's a five star read.

I've seen in several articles from either magazines or newspapers about those mini-libraries - take one, leave one. I havn't yet seen one around here. Some people just put them in front of their homes, and build some really nice little book-cases, and according to the articles, everyone loves it, even teens who don't normally spend much time on books. I just continue to donate mine to the library. I have replaced many books already with the Kindle editions. Many were free on kindle or very low priced.

I also thought Goodfellas was a really good film; I havn't read the book Wiseguys, but I did give it to one of my sons at Christmas,
Your review of The King's Agent was very informative. Also reading another Michener book - The drifters - good but not like some of his others that I can reread anytime. I loved his books - Alaska, Hawaii, Texas and The Covenent about S. Africa. I also read one of his nonfiction about Spain. And I'm checking out Bligh's account of the Mutiny on the Bounty - so far he makes himself out to be a pretty swell guy - lol,but he does provide much detail of the voyage. I havn't got to the actual mutiny yet. I always carrry a small paperback in my purse for anytime I might have to be stuck or have a long wait somewhere.

Had a great time with the boys and btw - it was also my b-day(60) on mother's day. That happens about every 6 years or so. Is your husband's also the 13th?

    Take care Courtney!

Way To Go S! You did great! Looks like all that time and work is paying off. Don't sweat one C. Its not always the grade but what you got out of the class too.
You will do well in Calculus too - if its the only class for the summer you can devote more time to it.

Let me know how you like 11/22. Other friends have told me they loved it. I am invovled in the dark tower series of his, and just when I thought I had only one more to read - actually two, because I read the last one out of order and will re-read it after #6 - now I see he has come out with a brand new one that goes between #4 and 5, or something like that. I have to check for sure. I did recently read Dolores Claiborne and The Green Mile, both really good. I never saw the film of the Green Mile so after the read I ordered it from netflix - also really good! Followed the book pretty close. I just finished The Godfather, the movie stayed pretty close to the story, although in the book some of the minor characters from the film had more complex storylines and back-stories than in the film. But I loved the book too.
Then I was also reading about the Sioux uprising, (nonfiction), but the writer was a little boring, and one sided(the whites were all good guys and the indians were all savages) for me, so after 50 pages I put it back and my shelf to try another time.

I guess you know now where the saying contractor's hell comes from. I hope you are able to give them a review somewhere, or with BBB. So many places have review sites now. Even the apartment building I live in. But when you guys are through, you can look at what you did with pride.

Everyone here is doing okay, hope u guys are too, and have a wonderful mother's day! We are going out with my sons tommorrow - it is always so crowded on Mother's Day everywhere.
Congrats once again on a great job with your studies(do you have a major btw, maybe you told me but I forgot).

    Hi
Yes,for the most part busy is a good thing(thanks so much for asking!) We do have our share of medical appts that keep us busy too, but mostly its just getting older stuff. We have had a few serious situations, not only for us old folks, but with one of our sons as well(long time ago). Right now all is good. We are even trying to plan some sort of trip.

Our sons, although grown men, still keep us busy with their stuff - this doesn't end, when they grow up - but it is very enjoyable for us. Especially that they want to still include us in their world.

Looks like you have some great stuff gone on as well. Remodeling can be daunting in all respects, but in the end(if there is one - lol) improvements will make you feel great!

If you ever get a chance to pick up Hillerman's Great Taos Bank Robbery - and other short essays about New Mexico - check it out. It's the first nonfiction of his I've read and I am really enjoying it. I know with your schedule, your TBR pile must be growing, but this book is only 147 pages and all the essays are fairly short. It is something you can pick up to read when you only have an hour or so and finish a story at a time. It's probably one I will keep and read again sometime. I am really enjoying it. He also wrote all those great Navajo detective novels(they made 3 movies of them).
    Take care

So glad to hear from you and that all your efforts are paying off. I loved your comments on River runs through it. Sounds like it was one of those that took you away for a while. I love reads like that.
The last math class I ever remember taking, circa 1970, was Finite Math(Math analysis) which was like logic I guess. but was so long ago. It was the only Math class I ever understood! Good that you will get Calculus done with. Good luck on it.
We have actually been busy around here. All of a sudden findng ouselves with much going on. Mostly family stuff.
    Hope all is well

Hope all is well. I know you are probably still very busy - even your vacation sounded like too much work for me - especially with tax season.
I am in awe of all the things you do!

I saw that you are reading A River Runs Through It. You've probably seen the film. i thought the film was beautiful. When you are finished with the read, I'd love to hear how the film and book compared. I usually like the book better, but that was such a wonderful film. Did the film follow the book pretty closely? I think I saw that this was a novella, but the movie was pretty lengthy.
    Take care-

I know! I always have an audio book going, so I can be 'reading' when I can't have a book in my hands.
R U enjoying Little Women - I read it so many years ago, but just got the Kindle edition - I read a review at amazon that the Kindle ed. is one of the earliest publications of the book and has more to it, so I'll be giving it another read.
Also I know u will enjoy My Antonia - wonderfully written. I have another by Willa Cather I plan to read someday - O'Pioneers.

I saw a couple of books that you gave high ratings to I am going to try and find(I get most of my books at used book store) Game of Thrones - and another by same author. R these a series or is one a sequel - are they read in order?

How is your busy life going? Glad to hear from you

The Lost Wagon Train was wonderful. I listened to it on audio and the reader really got all the drawls and ways of speech that Grey uses in his westerns, Highly recommended for any Western lover-

I will! -it will be a while - I'm listening to it on tape, there are 10 cassettes, I just started it and I'm already captivated. Zane Grey was an amazing writer.

I checked out Burnt Offerings from my local library. I will probably read some more of the series if I can keep getting them at the library. I don't think I will be buying any more of them though.

I just saw your note. So sorry it took so long to reply! I am enjoying the series. Although I wish she would stop mentioning her Nikes!! Sometimes the writing style bothers me but the storyline sucks me back in.
