Adam is a friend, but if the book wasn't awesome I just wouldn't say anything.

This is exactly what historical nonfiction should be: illuminating, lucid, inspiring. This is a profile in courage if there ever was one. Carr stood up to his party, his state. He did the right thing at a huge personal cost, but thanks to this great book his legacy will not be lost.

This is also a great Tom Wolfe book, but it did lack a strong woman character. If it hadn't been for "I am Charlotte Simmons" that fact would have kept Wolfe from being America's greatest living writer.

That said, this book stands on it's own as the best and most entertaining examination of the wacky Real Estate-fueled lifestyles, and of so many other of the trends in society that have crept up without much notice.

This is a great book, and it may be more true than we know! See [a href="http://stvitus.com/?p=66"]this story about how there aren't enough names to go around in China.[/a]

Tom Wolfe has a few great books, a bunch of good ones, and now this one, which should be considered a Great American Novel.

The one knock on Wolfe has been that he didn't have any strong female characters, and that has been answered resoundly.
