Scarlett

I am an avid reader, always have something going but don't get to read as much as I'd like. I am a library sub in a school district and enjoy interacting with the kids about books also. Besides reading I love to do cross stitch, knitting, crochet and whatever else catches my fancy.

Thanks, I use to have a crab apple tree but I don't recall it being so vibrant, like yours is. I guess that is why we don't have it anymore. LOL

Nominations have started for our August author, deadline for nominations is July 11 at noon, so we have time to vote. Also, there is a contest for our group avatar where the prize will be a gift card to Amazon, B&N or Borders. There is a thread that tells you all the details. Thanks!

I started a group called Read-a-Likes, and I'm trying to get some active readers involved in the group to help create lists of, well, read-a-likes. The group is small as I just started it the other day and only have a few posts, but I'd really like to get some more active members that can help create these lists. I think that it would come in handy for other members that are looking for some helpful readers advisory. Check out the group if you're interested: http://www.shelfari.com/groups/26266/about (i think that might work, haha). Again, the group's name is Read-a-likes.

    Thanks

    K.

Thanks for accepting my friend request :-).

We do have a few books/authors in common. Have you read any books by Alice Hoffman? She is my favorite women's fiction author. Barbara Wood is also good. What are your favorite authors?

hi Scarlett...we haven't talked in a while. How are things going? How is your summer? I just finished Pillars of the Earth! It was good, not the type of book I usually read and enjoy, but I'd have to say that I'm glad I ultimately stuck with it until the end. I'm not sure it needed to be quite so long. What have you read lately that you enjoyed? Do you have to work in the summer? I quit working about 3 years ago but I have one child that is getting ready to go to college in 2 months so I'm thinking about heading back into the work force...just so I don't go crazy. Your job sounds interesting to me. I worked in the library when I was in college to help pay for my tuition. Anyway..stay in touch.

Slammerkin was really different. I wanted it to end differently because I am a sucker for happy endingts. I have just started Alaska, by Mitchner because we are taking a cruise in August. It has been a while since I read a Mitchner book, and I have forgotten what a wonderful writer he is. I am really enjoying it, but it is SO LONG!

Just got up from working all night. I work in a small hospital just outside of the Atlanta city limits in ICU. Been ther for over 25 years. My husband is semi-retired but we both went ,too so I could get paid less and abused more than I do as a nurse, tee hee. Anyway, I have thought I am ready to get out of the critical care arena and would like to work in a library! What would I need to do to get my foot in the door? I am a college graduate with a degree in biology, a paralegal(legal nurse consultant), and nurse/EMT. Oh and I love books. Are you semi retired? I am knitting a baby gift, I call it a "Snuggle Bunny" it is a Lion brand yarn pattern that can be found on line. Are you knitting anything now?

have you read anything else lately, that's worth me checking out? i just finished odd mom out (jane porter) and that was pretty good. just picked up *the men's guide to the women's bathroom* (jo barrett) and i can't seem to put it down. still reading grave sight (charlaine harris)...just can't seem to get too into it..i read a chapter or two here and there and it's just not really very catching..so i keep passing over it and reading other stuff. oh well. i'm trying to find a series that catches me like the twilight series and just can't seem to find it yet. ugh. oh well.
the host i'm still waiting on at the library.

i really liked it..i had to cheat and find out by flipping through the book, if edward came back..b/c i was gonna be really angry if he didn't! haha. it was a little hard to get through the beginning and her during her depressed state. but then it picked up. but definately not as good as twilight.
I just picked up a few books from the library..and trying to decide what to start next as they all sound good (water for elephants (gruen), salem falls (piccoult), odd mom out (porter)& uglies (westerfeld)...plus i'm still trying to finish; grave sight (harris) & lifeguard (patterson)
