I will have 5th-8th grade next year. I will work on getting you a copy of that letter. Right now it's probably on the previous librarian's temp drive at school. You need it for next year, right? I want a copy of it anyway because I will have to reinsert my name in place of hers. I need to go up to school, but haven't done so yet.

Hi samplerweaver, I have heard of _Feathers_ . It's on my tbr list. Have you read other Woodson books? She is my favorite YA author. I hope to see you in forums. Would you mind sharing a little about yourself? If not publicly, you can click on private notes on my home page. Peace. ~zawadi
Samplerweaver,Please tell me a little about you. Even if it's fiction. I saw your comments about _A Step From Heaven_." I have had success just by putting books on display. Often the students have no clue what to pick so they'll pick up the display copy and often check them out. Would love to hear from you at YA Adults Should Read. Peace. ~zawadi

I notice that you posted that Terry Pratchett has fallen victim to Alzheimer's. This is a tragedy, not only for him and his friends, but for his many devoted readers. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, and I am sure that there are many others who owe you thanks as well. He will be in my prayers.

Hello I saw that you asked whether the Gemma Doyle Series was appropriate for middle school and I was going to answer on the group post but I didn't want to ruin the series for others. Anyways, I read the series recently and remember very well the situations in each. The first one is basically the starter so theres a budding romance but not much, the heroine does have a dream about her crush and it is a bit passionate kissing wise and the second book is actually kind of the same the romance is kind of worked on mostly emotionally and is only physical through passionate kisses and touching, no sexual activities. The third one does have sex in it. It isn't described alot but there is enough discriptions to understand feelings and such during the action. So I hope this helps and even if you choose not to give it to your class it is still a very good series you should check out personally.

I received your email about read-alouds. I've used the following in sixth grade this year: 47, Milkweed, Locomotion, Watson's Go to Birmingham, Stuck in Neutral, & Things Not Seen. However, they align with our Social Studies curriculum... I highly recommend capitalizing on books that match the content you study. Double duty (the kids absolute favorite is Stuck in Neutral although Milkweed runs a very close second).
