Hello :)

I am a 20yrs married Mom homeschooling two great young people.. I have written a few poems, many essays, and the odd book -but only a few articles have been publicly published. I have been a bibliophile since I was knee high to a hickory stump. Books have always been a big part of my life, though my love of adventure games has...more »

Since we don't know your exact birthday, but just know that it is in mid-July, I'm pretending it is today. So... Happy Birthday!

You've got some great books on your shelf! Have you read The Wee Free Men by Pratchett? It's a young adult book, but very funny.

Neil Gaiman is nice. I liked "American Gods", "Anansi Boys" and "Stardust". The first two are quite similar and kind of dark. "Stardust" is more like a fairy tale.

Btw, I would like to recommend you this Japanese writer "Haruki Murakami". I found him quite nice on the whole - some of his books were too difficult for me to understand though. Another fantasy books (from a non-fantasy author) is Salman Rushdie's "Haroun and the Sea of Stories". I first read this when I was in my 8th standard in school, and have read it at least a dozen times since. Not to mention the many copies I have gifted to others. It has a bit of an Indian context, but I think it can be enjoyed otherwise too.

Thanks, I didn't know there was a "Myth" series. Will try to see if i can get my hands on the first book somehow to start off on these series.

I love fantasy books, specially Terry Prachett. Loved Eragon, but could have done without Eldest. Loved Artemis Fowl, but as could be expected, the rest of the books don't live upto the promise of the first one. Also liked Ender's Shadow better than Ender's Game. With this intro, are there any other books you could recommend to me?

Ah...Reading and crafting, the two great loves of my life. (Oh, wait...my hubby goes in there somewhere too. Lol.) Do you craft? (Wow, that sounds like a chat up line. I like it.) How do you ever find time to read while homeschooling your kids?

A beardie is a bearded dragon. They're spikey looking lizards and just about the most fun you can keep in a cage. :)

Yeah, I know about the owned, read, etc option. Too much work on the older books on my shelf. Now when they set it up where I can right click and select the entire row or shelf, that's when I'll mark all the books. If it's on my shelf i've read it, most likely I own it.

I am not familiar with Donna Andrews, so I will definitely check into her books at the library.

I don't know if knitting is easier or not. I took a knitting class years ago and have others over the years. I've been thinking of learning how to crochet, but just haven't gotten to it yet. Many people I know do both, however, I have not asked them which was easier. I can see, though, that whichever is learned first & have the most experience would be easier than the newly acquired skill. Just my though.

Hello there! I am knitting a cardigan for my husband. I've made many sweaters before, but never a cardigan.

I see that you belong to the Molly Keane group. Have you read any of her works yet? I will start on my first today.

Off to check out your shelf! :)
