Hi Saavedra, Thanks for adding me.

I hope you're having a great weekend! I'm happy to hear you like historical and paranormal (fantasy too) because that's what I write most of the time.

When you get a moment, please check out my web site -- take a look at Dust and Moonlight, Land of Falling Stars, Decadent Deceptions and my new release coming in August Where The Rain Is Made. http://www.ketadiablo.com.

Thanks so much and I hope to chat books with you again.

    Best, Keta

I really enjoyed that one. I had been curious to see what would happen and why the Duke was not returning to england for so long. I really like the accident with the Privy breaking down. LOL Stuff like that isn't in most books and it made it seem more real. How about you?

    Hi,

I was at the store on my lunch break today and they had a 4 books for $3 special. One of them looked like a cool gothic. "Beneath the Raven's Moon" by Emily LaForge - ever read it?

" When the Raven swallows the moon, darkness descends and sometimes people die....

That's what Catherine Carmichael was told as a child growing up at Ravenswood, the forbidding mansion built by her grandfather on a remote peninsula in upstate New York. Now, twenty years after her father's sudden disappearance and her mother's spiriting young Catherine away to safety, she returns to the shadowy old manor for the reading of her eccentric uncle's will. There, amid ghostly servants and disturbing houseguests, she must confront a legacy of evil -- and an urbane, dark-haired stranger who sparks in her the passion she needs to unlock her family's secrets and banish forever the darkness from Ravenswood...and her own heart."

Hi Sav - I've been reading others' reports of Pope Joan but I haven't read it yet. I have so many books on my TBR shelf...I didn't even add it but I guess I should. I just finished The Traitor's Wife which I really enjoyed. Do you read any fantasy? I'm in the second book of George R. R. Martin's Ice and Fire series. They have a medieval feel to them and I'm really enjoying the books.

I work in a library so I requested the St. Giles books and the Tyrrel books. That's what I love about this site - hearing about cool books that you've never heard about before. The Dorothy Daniels one is an oldie so you might have to either find a cheap copy online or request it from a library.

    Enjoy! :)

Well I really love those Eve Silver books. To me, good gothic books are all about atmosphere. Those Silver books have it in spades. I love "Dark Prince" because it reminds me a little of "Jane Eyre" - for me it's no coincidence that the heroine's name is Jane. I also loved "Seduced by A Stranger". I think I first fell in love with gothics when I was younger and read "Juniper Hill" by Dorothy Daniels:

A munificent inheritance from an unknown benefactor ... a fabulous Victorian mansion in San Francisco, the only one on Juniper Hill to escape destruction in the great earthquake ... a ghostly pianist who plays a locked grand piano in the depths of the night ... an eerie seance in the flickering candlelight ... a beautiful young woman -- very much in love -- threatened by a desperate killer as she unravels the mystery of the musical ghost.

I haven't read (or even heard of) Gortner. What is The Last Queen about? Also - I have the same Calvin and Hobbes book and I dearly loved the cartoon. I was so sad when Watterston (sp?) retired them.

Sadly, Saavedra, this little guy passed away this Saturday morning past. He was 5 and 1/2 years old and a real treasure. He herded us exclusively and our daughters when they were home. He loved to "help", sticking his nose in to whatever we were doing. He hated squirrels and could never figure out why he couldn't catch those deer. We're lost without him. when the time is right we hope to have another sheltie..they are the best little dogs ever.
