Books have been my magic all my life. They are my door to the world, and my wings to enchantment and utopia. I was blessed with parents that had all walls lined with bookshelves, and free access to all the books given to me and my siblings. Mom and Dad were of the mind that if a book captured our interest, then by all means read it, and if it didnt capture our interest..then it was too advanced for our age. This is what began my lifelong, eclectic passion for books.
Now comes the challenge of listing them! This appeals greatly to the obsessive bent that I have, and will give me the chance to tackle the twice yearly categorizing of my shelves. I have had people ask me, when they see all my bookshelves, "how many of those have you read?" Blink..."all of them". "Then why do you still have them, just get rid of the ones you have read." Blink again..."I re-read them, they are my friends". If a book stays on my shelf, it is because I love it, and can always get tidbits that didnt come through the first time upon re-reading it.
My shelf categories will work as follows...
wish list... books waiting for my finances to catch up with the need for them.
reading list...current reading, and library books.
my shelf...every book friend that lives with me.
I love to talk about books, much of my reading these days is feminist, fantasy, and alternative building/eco-friendly. I am a mom to two teenagers, and always have various art projects, fiber projects, and, of course, reading to do!
