hi! i have a sister who married someone from Pune. But they recently moved to Singapore because of my brother-in-law's work. They go to India with their two kids regularly though. I have not been to India but I am often told that I should. I've seen pictures but they say the pictures do not give the place justice. :)

Marie Antionette would like to share an excerpt from her book titled A Girl Named Job with you and all of her Shelfair friends...

This is from Chapter 3, Wheres My Daddy...

It took a few seconds for the reality of things to really hit me but once it did I broke down and cried like a wounded dog.I didn’t cry because we’d just gotten robbed. I cried because I though Nana was gonna “whop” my a**! Surely she wasn’t going to believe me, she never does! I knew she was going to put the blame on me. I was the only one in the house and I didn’t do anything to stop him. I could hear her now, "Why didn’t you go run and tell somebody you run ya’ mouth any other time?” “Why didn’t you pick up the phone and call somebody-the police?” My thoughts had me so afraid, that by now the house is filled with my weeps. It was hard for me to hear anything over the sound of my shed tears. I though the ordeal was over, I though Gilly was gone. But as I lift my head an opened my eyes, he was standing right there staring at me like my reflection in the mirror. That F***** Me Up! It felt like witches riding my back. I couldn’t scream, I couldn’t move, I couldn’t yell, I couldn’t blink, I couldn’t do shit! All I could do was sit and stare. I didn’t make one move, but when the nigga’ touched me, WOAH Nelly! Talk about fade to Black! I was gone, I’d completely zoned out. I had no idea what his intentions were and at the same time it felt like my spirit had vacated my body. Gilly didn’t have his hands on me he had his hands on an empty shell. He was saying some thing to me but I couldn’t hear him. His touch numbed my body. I don’t know how long he was in the room with me. I was just relieved as hell when he left. I started crying again...

Your profile is charming. I particularly like your comment about befriending diverse people. It's so easy to make friends who are JLY (just like you)! I too love animals. I don't have any pets - we travel too much - but want to see the big cats survive! So I love the cover of your "India Survives" book.

my condolences to the whole family and my apologies for a soooo late reply, it's hard losing someone so important esp. parents I can't imagine how you're coping with the loss. It isn't easy i lost my grandma too when i was 20 i grow up w/ her. i cried knowing it is me she talks of by the time she had a heart attack she's longing to see me knowing that vacation is approching that time and i am about to go home to our province ( i studied in Mla a 12 hour drive from the province). I was able to cope up just by thinking she's with me, i didn't actually loss her cos every single days we spend together all the teachings she taught me are well preserved w/in me. I think of how much a better person i am now because of her and i thank her for giving life to my father and taking care of me. So, cheer up holiday is here have a wonderful year to come and think how happy your father would be knowing you recovered. Happy New Year Friend...
