Pez is a native of Sheffield in the UK. His native environment is the Peak District National Park, where he can often be found walking or cycling, although he can usually be lured indoors with books, coffee or a wide variety of savory foods, Pretty much any food, actually.

I've lived my whole life to date in Sheffield, with occasional excursions into the wider world. I like to pretend I'm a well-rounded human being with many interests, the two most long-term of which are food and books. Although oddly enough i've never been that interested in reading about food, preferring the cooking and eating of it. I used to be fond of saying that i'd read anything with print on it, and i'm sure i would if i were desperate, but have found some genres and writers i prefer to steer clear of. I usually have several books on the go at a time - often a non fiction (science, history, philosophy, society), a heavyweight fiction, a more lightweight fiction and an audiobook which could be any of the above. Fortunately in the UK it is legal to cycle while wearing earphones. While i dislike genre definitions, i do read a lot of science fiction, as well as a fair bit of crime and contemporary fiction.
My favourite authors are: Gene Wolfe, Iain Banks, Christopher Brookmyre, Ursula le Guin, Sheri Tepper, Angela Carter, Saul Bellow, John Irving, Umberto Eco, Dashiell Hammett, Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, Joseph Conrad, Louis de Berniere, Neal Stephenson, David Mitchell, Geoff Ryman, Rupert Thomson, Paul McAuley and many others.
