I am an avid reader; have been since Kindergarten I think! I don't just read books, I consume them. I love the touch and feel of books, the look of them, the presentation, not just what they say. I read a wide variety of literature, fiction and non-fiction, and love it all.
Reading has helped lead me back to writing, which is something...more »

    Hi, Peggy,

I'm going to DSU, majoring in music for now. Also taking generals to get them out of the way, and maybe some computer classes second semester. We'll see. I'm doing 16 hours, but about 6 of those hours are music, which I've been told should be a snap, especially for someone like me with 12 years of piano lessons behind them. I'm also taking a math class (Intermediate Algebra), English Comp I, Jazz Ensemble (which I'm guessing will be fun; I'm gonna play keyboard, mainly, but I would like to try marimba), a fitness concepts class (we'll see if any of that works for me; doubt it, LOL), and Freshman Seminar and Choir. There, I think I covered it all, LOL.

Yeah, the move was really smooth. For a while, I lost my checkbook, but it ended up that I had misplaced it or else put it somewhere else at home where I normally don't put it, so I found it again. I'm very glad, as I have to pay for my books in the next few days. But I will get refunded for that, I think, after I pay for them and let my dad know what it is, cuz he's gonna send my mom a bill for it. *evil laugh* I have one roommate, I was very lucky. They are tripling DSU rooms this year; that's right, three in one room, a bunk bed and another bed squished into one. I was lucky, and I'm glad. My roommate hasn't even shown up or checked in yet, and from what I've heard, she doesn't come around very often, so if I have the room to myself a lot, that's fine with me. :D I'll still keep it clean, but at least I know I won't have someone coming in on me at 3 a.m. and waking me up or something.

You sound very busy with your kids! Yeah, I agree, summers are like that. I mean, take me for example. The day after graduation, I went straight to work and tried my very best at that, but got transferred to somewhere else (from the stables to grounds crew; I was really bummed), and well, grounds crew didn't go very well for me, but I stayed on it all summer. I got the hang of the tools and mowers and stuff, and it felt good to be accomplishing all the mowing and stuff we did. But eventually, it became very monotonous and boring work, and I really wanted to get out of there. Well, the job ended for the summer and now I've moved into the dorm and it's a whole new thing to stress over and get things accomplished once more, I think? So I see what you mean.

GAH, I started reading Breaking Dawn yesterday and so far, I think I hate it more than I like it. I like some of it, like Bella and Edward's occasional humor, but there are still many aspects of it that still bother me. I'll explain more later. I was reading my BFF's copy on the way to a state fair (which was horridly boring, by the way.) But I think, even if I hate it, I want to read it as soon as I can, just to say I have and I've completed the series, you know? But with it being the last book of the series, what about Midnight Sun? Wouldn't that be the last of the series, too? So I have mixed feelings about it all right now.

I've never heard of The Shack. Who's the author?

I've already met new people and I'm trying my best to say hi to as many as I can, at least, in passing by, just to say I did. It's hard for me to make friends, but like, the friends I had in high school, I was extremely loyal to and I was very comfortable around them and stuff. So I hope that happens here. Everyone tells me it will. You even dream about college, huh?

Great to hear from you, Peggy! I think we both outdid ourselves in long notes this time. :D Don't worry, I like long notes, they're fun to respond to. :D

    Hey Peggy,

Well, just dropping you a quick note, updating you on how I've been. It's been far too long since our last note exchange. I miss our visits. I'm moving into the college dorm this afternoon, though, and classes start for me on Tuesday, so I don't know how often I'll be on Shelfari for the next couple weeks. I don't know how often I'll be on at all, actually. I'll try to check up on new notes once a week or so, though.

Other than that, my summer job finished up. Nothing much else new with me, though. I'll talk to you later.

    Your friend,

    Cammy

Peggy! So good to hear from you, finally!

Unfortunately, right now, I cannot say much, as I was just checking this before I go off to bed (have to get up tomorrow to take my sister to school, because my dad has to go and get blood drawn), and I burned three of my left fingers on a mower's muffler today at work (on my last day, too! Ugh!), so I can't really type without having some pain (minor, but still there.) I'll tell you more about that later... or... tomorrow or whenever I can. XD

OK, I'll check out your site as soon as I can.

My dad turns 50 tomorrow. I still have to go find his present and buy it (I know what he wants). I'm also having to bake his cake with one hand, due to my burns... I don't know how I'm going to manage that. Slowly, I guess? And should I time it so that we would eat it after dinner? I don't know... I'll have to ask him, as he does have to work all day. I don't; today was my last day of my summer job, woot!!! ^^ Tomorrow, I get my highlights redone, too. I have liked them a lot so far, so I'm glad I get to. I'm also getting a trim.

I have Friday and Saturday off to spend time with my dad and stepmom before I move into the dorm (with help from my mom) on Sunday. Then I have Monday off, as only night classes start at 3 p.m. that day, and Tuesday, classes start at 8 a.m. I will be busy after that! My mom and stepdad, as of right now, are forbidding me from getting any sort of job at all and they just want me to concentrate on my schooling. I hope I can convince my dad of that, too, as I like that idea... and I proved I could hold a job while in high school, so I don't know...

That's all from me. More form both of us later, eh? ^^

    Hey Peggy,

I'm excited to see your longer note. Thanks for the graduation congrats. I'm glad to be done. I'm super nervous about college this fall, but right now, I'm just trying to do well at my summer job, which is full-time. I'll worry about college more come August. I do have registration and stuff next week (is it already??), but other than that, nothing really until August. With working, unfortunately, I don't have time to take summer classes, which I think might have been beneficial. Who knows? I'm so glad you loved August Rush! I loved it, too, at least the first time I watched it. But the second time I watched it, I actually got really bored. I hope I won't be bored next time I watch it, but I'm going to take a break from it for a while. Plus, I don't really have time, anyways.

    Talk to you again soon,

    Hey there,

Has it really been a MONTH since I last talked to you? Wow!

I'm not going to say much (haha, right?), but I wanted to just update you on how I've been doing, since I've barely been around Shelfari in the past few months, and I'm probably going to delete my Myspace this summer (sorry, Truvy, and whoever else has me added. I just don't maintain it and to have all that personal information just sitting there, with the possibility of it getting spread, isn't worth the risk to me.) Anyways, some things: I graduate in four days from today, on Sunday. I'm pretty excited, I think, more to see family and such than to graduate. I'm sure it will be an emotional day, anyhow. Had my final choir concert last night, too; it was one of the most amazing nights of my life. So much connection, so many tears, so many memories all packed into about two hours. Crazy, but amazing! Ummm... what else? The day after graduation, I will be starting training to work six days (and sometimes nights) a week at a stables. Then this fall, I'm entering college, hoping to major in vocal (for now, since I got a scholarship), office administration (which seems more... job acquiring after college... than a vocal major does), and I'm still considering veterinary technician studies (I'd have to transfer twice, including once out-of-state, to complete that, though, so I'm not sure.) Other than that, not much else going on with me, just being driven nuts by all the graduation preparation in these final few days. I will probably not be writing at all this summer, and I don't know when I'll be writing this fall, due to my unknown college schedule, because Shelfari isn't exactly my forte anymore, even though it was for a while.

I guess that's all from me. Sorry if this is too long. I guess I had to cram a lot to say into a little (well, sort of... haha...) message. Hope you are doing as well as I am and have a great summer, if I don't talk to you before I start working and college and all that jazz.

    Hi Peggy,

I was wondering if you've seen the new movie, August Rush? It came out last year and I've seen it twice. I was wondering, though... I'm writing a fan fiction based off it and at the point where I am right now, Evan (August) is asking his mother (Lyla) what kind of books she is going to get him, since he doesn't have clothes, books, etc. of his own. I'm stuck at that point because I don't know what kinds of books Evan might read, being only 11, almost 12, years old and already a Julliard student, a music prodigy.

I can give you more information on the movie if you need it, but I was wondering if you had any suggestions for books Evan might read, being 11, almost 12? The story is set in 2006-2007, which is 11, 12 years after he was born.

    Thanks,

    Cammy

    Hi Peggy,

Good to hear from you. Don't worry, I have barely been on Shelfari since January, too. I've been busy rehearsing for and performing a play, I've gone back to work now that the play is done, and I'm finishing up my senior year of high school (less than 9 weeks to go! I dunno whether to feel excited or terrified.)

Thanks for the congrats on the RENT trip. Recently, however, I've been having a lot of trouble with my mom (long story), so I'm keeping my guard up about the NYC trip, in case she happens to cancel it for some reason... if she did, I'd never forgive her and I'd probably steal the tickets and beg someone else to go with me. They, and the plane tickets, are nonrefundable, after all (I looked when I was with her a couple weeks ago. I'm only with her two days a month, you see.)

I don't know what we're going to do in NYC when we're not seeing RENT and Wicked, but I'm making a priority/to-do list. Ground Zero is not on the list, however, because I never really connected with it (I was only 12.) Maybe if I go again after college, I will visit there, but not when we only have two days. Some of the things on that list are the Life Cafe, Moondance Diner, Macy's, Bloomingdale's (not really to shop, only to say I've been there), Tompkins Square Park... that's all I can think of for now.

I haven't read Looking for Alaska, but since it's banned, I may have to check it out. I like reading banned books a lot (mainly Harry Potter) as rebellion. :D I've not read Catcher in the Rye, but as soon as I get a chance, maybe this summer, I'll check out Looking for Alaska.

Wow, long note. Guess I had a lot to catch you up on. Hope you're doing well. I'm doing pretty spectacular myself, I think.

Take care and I'll talk to you later!

    Hey Peggy,

Yeah, I haven't heard from you since after Christmas! I've been really busy, but have found a little time to peruse Shelfari and see if I have any new notes. Lately, though, not so much, though I have been getting a few more friend requests. I don't accept all of them, though.

I've heard about Peeps by Westerfield. I'll check it out as soon as I possibly have time.

Take care, I'll talk to you soon,

    Cammy

P.S. I HAVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT MY GRADUATION PRESENT I RECENTLY RECEIVED (SORTA) FROM MY MOM!!! It'll take me a whole another note, though. :D If you read my profile, you'll know. :D ^^
