Greenspan was influenced by the libertarian political thought in ATLAS SHRUGGED. His Fed policies led to the current stint of 'creative destructio' aka, the 'housing bubble'. Asked once where he puts his retirement money, he responded that he put it in Treasureis, not anything so speculative as the stock market. It's his kind of thinking (in positions of political power) which is leading us to world environmental collapse.

Does sound an amusing read though. I'm reading THE COSMIC JACKPOT and Hegel's SCIENCE OF LOGIC. In my own twisted mind's eye, they compliment one another.

COLLAPSE? It comes across as liberal to me because he doesn't challenge the fundamental underpinnings of capitalist society, the wages system. As for the content and the questions it raises, I honestly don't think that capitalism can cope with climate change and resource depletion to the point of environmental collapse.

    Why?

Well, at the core of the capitalist system is the principle of growth. I think that we're way beyond sustainability now on planet Earth and Nature is in the early stages of revolt.

Molotov's memoire gives one the insider's look at what movitvated Stalinist politics. There's another interesting insiders' take along these political snapshot lines and that's THE HITLER BOOK, also on my list.

Hi. Ever read HUNGER? I'm thinking of the title above there, SOME WRITERS DESERVE TO STARVE. I wrote a novel with no commercial potential too. Hasn't almost everyone on this list? Mine's here:
