I have been married for 17 years. I have two daughters. One is 11 and the other is 5. I am a preschool teacher, working with two year olds. I read almost any kind of book. If it looks good, I will read it. My favorite category is romance/chick lit books. Those are the ones that I tend to gravatate towards. This year I discovered book challenges....more »

  • The Face of Death
    • Rated 4 stars

When I finished reading The Face of Death, I was liked oh my gosh how am I going to review this book. All I can say is that I LOVED IT.

Smoky Barrett is an intense FBI Agent who has both physical and emotional scars that she has acquired from past cases. She heads the Violent Crimes Unit in Los Angeles. She has a decision to make to stay with her team in L.A. or become a teacher of new FBI recruits in Quantico. I love Smoky. She is a tough lady who is able to overcome her past. She cares about her adopted daughter and her friends. They have become her family.

Not that I am an expert in serial killers, but I feel that The Stranger is a little bit different then the typical serial killers that we read about. The Stranger has planned all of this years ago and over time his plans have come to fruition. That is what I find chilling about this book.

For a couple of night after I read the book, I had a hard time sleeping. I was afraid that someone would come into my house. That is how intense this book was. I don't even know when the last time a book made me react that way.

A word of caution there is graphic violence. It was shocking to read what The Stranger did to his victims but I feel that it was necessary to put it into the book so that we and Smoky can see into The Stranger's mind.

I don't know how I feel about this book. I felt I had to keep reading to see what would happen to the family. Even though I saw the betrayal coming, I was still taking by surprise. I felt very sorry for the family. It is a sad book. Beryl finally trumph's after many years of silence by telling the truth about what happened to her and to her family.

  • Acheron (Dark-Hunter, Book 12)

I love this book. There were times when I became so angry with what was happening to Acheron I had to walk away from the book and there were times when I was crying. This was an awesome read.

Sherrilyn Kenyon knows how to draw you into a book were you do not want to put it down. I can't wait to see what she does in the next book One Silent Night

I enjoyed this book about mother, gradmother and daughter relationships. How the grandmother copes with the fact that her grandaughter's father is back in the picture and she is afraid that the father will take her granddaughter away.

This is a nice lite read. Even though this is historical fiction, don't take it to seriously. Just relax and enjoy the book. I felt Amy was annoying and dense. I want to know more about Jane. I also enjoyed Eloise. I quess I have to read the series to find out about Jane

I for one did not like the portrayal of Elizabeth. She was too weak for me. I had to develop a theory that Elizabeth was manipulating everyone and letting them think that they were manipulating her. When I developed this theory, I was able to enjoy the book.

  • The Truth: I'm a Girl, I'm Smart and I Know Everything
    • Rated 4 stars

My daughter's review: I've read The Truth by Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein. I really enjoyed it very much. I can really related to The Truth because it told about how girls really feel. I could feel how the girl was feeling as she was going through crushes, family, and her dreams. The Truth told what girls want and what it takes to achieve it. I truly recommend The Truth to girls my age and a bit older. I believe most girls would and could relate to and enjoy The Truth.
