I saw you added that American Photobooth book to your shelf, and Photobooth by Babette Hines. I actually have the latter. It's very interesting, and definitely worth buying. I love seeing real people's faces that aren't the standard of movie-star or supermodel beauty, especially in such casual settings. You should check out www.thefoundphoto.com ... they have archives of such stuff that are really neat.

After reading your opinion on Appalachian Lives, I think that you and I may have a few things in common. I have a book, which I have not yet read, but it is called Smoky Mountain Folklife, and it deals with the traditions and ways of life of people living in that region. Another book which I have not yet read -- or books, more properly -- , but which I really want to, is The Foxfire Book(s). They're shelved in the Nature Writing section on the bottom shelf, but they're really collections of folk studies on people living in the Appalachian region. To me, these aspects of folklore are among the most exciting and fascinating. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot: what Flannery O'Connor book would you reccomend? I don't know when I'll get to it, but I want to put one of her books on my list.

You may want to read Bittersweet Diary by S. Seward. Great story of a young heroines struggle as told thru the heart of a 6yr old. She answers the question: at what age does the confident woman get her guts!

Growing Up Jim Crow and What is the What are both on my reading list... I read Perks of Being a Wallflower a long time ago... Forgot all about that book. I think that was where I found the song "Vapor Trail". Man, that brings back some memories...some that are just as well left buried... Anyway, great to see you on here!
