Voracious reader of just about anything that's not considered (super) light reading. I have almost no other standard than that it be good ... I don't care about literary reputation (for the most part) or even popular reputation (i.e., if it's on the best seller list I probably won't read it).

Wow! I wasnt expecting you to come to my defense. i love you and am glad the person who knows me best, generally sees me as a decent person, even though I was disappointed to find out I was awkward and insensitive. i thought I was usually neither, but I will take an honest assessment:)
I did feel a little like a kid being bullied on the playground. I was embarassed someone felt the need to come to my aid, but still glad you care enough to do it!
Thanks for being a great mom, lover, wife, and best friend!

    1) Why did you feel the need to let me know that Uplandpoet is not a racist? Why must you convince me, a total stranger? Or, are you seeking to convince yourself? Did I at some point ask for expert / character witnesses? Or do you just go around fighting all of his battles? I am not seeking his friendship, so I can assure you that I do not care to be convinced of whether he is a racist or not. But, thanks for sharing.
    2) If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, hmmmm, it might just be a duck. You have admitted that Uplandpoet is “awkward, insensitive at times.” Since you’ve read the post I left on his page, I’m sure you read the comments I left that were illustrative of such “awkwardness” or “insensitivity.” To many folks, particularly many African-Americans, such “awkwardness” or “insensitivity” would qualify as being racist - or certainly more serious a discretion than mere “awkwardness” or “insensitivity.” One does not need to be a card-carrying KKK member of the KKK to be a racist. But, opinions are like butts. They may look different and be shaped differently, but we all have them. To each, his own. While you are working on the parts of his novel that “read ugly” in certain places, you might also want to work with him on parts of his speech / postings that “read ugly” in certain places so as to reduce the alleged confusion or misinterpretation.
    3) Have a very wonderful evening.
