I can't keep up--I'm always trying to "like" people's comments on Shelfari and there's no "like" button. Once you "follow" someone, they're then considered your "friend" I think... We're all becoming Shelfarters, Facebutts, and Twats. I've taken to calling social media the voluntary building of the panopticon ; )

My apologies for encouraging the troll in Diversity Works. I really thought it couldn't be sincere, but wow.

As you see I am catching up. That 90% can from PEW Research in 1999. Interestingly, since then the number has dropped to 84%, a significant drop in the black community and the number of un-churched has also risen. Overall, Christianity in the US is barely at 70% according to NORC. The book I am about to publish "Preach & Practice: The Failure of Christianity to Make a Difference" is complete. I am editing now. It is tedious but necessary. Or course, it will be edited further, but I have to get it to that point.

I am ashamed to answer this note because I have been away so long. Now I am at home everyday undergoing chemotherapy and I got all the time in the world, figuratively speaking. It is working. Sorry, I took so long to get back to you. Don

I agree that disagreement is essential to growth....and friendship. Thanks for the heads-up on your temporary departures from Shelfari. When they occur I will look forward to your return and the wisdom you bring.
btw sorry about the insertion of a"t" in your name.

It's kinda funny, recently I read in one of your posts that you explained your avatar's nickname on twilight (also my favorite time of the day). However, all this time I thought you were using a play on words - naive!!!

Hello! No, I did not take that photo. I live in Melbourne. Surprisingly we lack a Sydney Harbour Bridge. I'm thinking they should install one soon. It's a great tourist attraction and it can only help us Melburnians. Did you hear they closed the Sydney Harbour Bridge for a day to have a giant picnic? They closed it off at night, installed some fake turf, and the next day families and others enjoyed a nice picnic on the bridge. So cool even though it must have caused havoc with the traffic. It'll probably become an annual event like the dust storms.

Due to my sojourn in academics I'm only up to 24 years myself. But my general perspective on life probably comes from previous training in philosophy of science, i.e., Karl Popper.
