I'm egotistical/desperate enough to have my own books on my shelf. Some of the other books are more urgent than others, but all are great and important.

yep. its me and you were the one who got me onto Shelfari and I now have lots of books on my shelf. NOT, of course, the same ones you read. We are related, but not so much in our reading tastes, except of course, Even a Daughter.....

    Hi Mykel,
My Shelfari update tells me you just reviewed Mr Pip, but I can't find your review on the site. I was planning to read the book soon and would be very interested to know what you think of it - possibly not your usual kind of book (not that you are an easy person to categorise!)
    Love, Hilary

    MykelB,
Nice to meet up with another fan of Blaster al! I believe I stumbled upon him almost a decade ago via Normal's bookstore in Baltimore, The Shattered Wig Review, and some influences from the Baltimore arts journal Link--what a treat. Your shelf is wonderful--I always wanted to order the Anarchist Cookbook as a kid--I kept seeing the ads for it in the back of various magazines (esp. Rolling Stone if memory serves me... which it usually doesn't). How'd you discover the Blaster?

I have 13 boy authors out of 27 so by my count that 's just about 1/2. I invited Phoebe and she's on my friends list but hasn't posted anything yet.

Mykel--you crass self-promoter! At least you're an honest crass self-promoter. Ham on Rye definitely a great book you recommended to me....Soft Machine--eh, never been able to get into Burroughs...on the other hand "Even a Daughter" is up there with Shakespeare!! (send my slag direct to my home address ;=)
