Mi Books

Mi Books

I'm a homeschool mom of 16 years and we've done **lots** of reading in those years. We love books at our home and we finally have a library room! It's a little messy currently, since we are just moving in, but most of the books are up on the shelves. Currently, I'm a on a "cozy" mystery kick. I have always enjoyed Sherlock Holmes stories,...more »

hey mi! thanks for dropping me a note about the dragonspell series! i think because it is a series, it's best to read 'em in order, but each book is it's own story too, so I can see enjoying book 2 even without first reading book 1. I agree that it's a series worth owning--it's great for families to enjoy together (at least mine does!) Glad to have pointed you to them! ENJOY and happy reading!

You asked about my Building Character devotional book. It is geared for ages 8 to 12. However, I have an adult friend who is enjoying reading the book. She bought several for her grandchildren, but kept one for herself. A 12 year old boy read the book and shared it with his friends at school. His grandfather, who gave him the book, said it was instrumental in helping him make a decision for Christ. Hope this helps.

Hi! Thanks for leaving me a note! I am looking forward to reading the Dragons in our Midst series someday...wish my public library had them, but since they don't I'll have to buy 'em myself when I can afford to. Anyways, if you haven't already read the Dragonspell series by Donita K. Paul, I HIGHLY recommend it. Dh and I have read all but the last book and now we're reading them together as a family. Ds (age 8) just LOVES the story and can't wait to hear more! Btw, nice to meet ya!

well, it really depends on the mystery and (sometimes) who it's by. i love sherlock holmes, and there are certain few modern-day murder mysteries that i like, such as the trilogy by randy alcorn: deadline, dominion, and deception.

Hello Mi!!! i have read almost all of the redwall books, but have missed just a few. yes, marlfox was very good!!! Dave Barry has some extremely funny clean articles that would be good for your kids and you. however, he does occasionally use inappropriate humor. i have only actually read two of his books, and i would say that about 80% or so is nothing but good clean fun.

Hi, Mi. I was just looking at the books on your shelf and we have similar tastes. May I recommend www.graceandtruthbooks.com. On their home page, look left under Children and click onto the Character Building Collection. I have recently ordered 11 books from there and they are some of the best books I have ever read. We gave the books to our grandchildren, but not before we read them all. They don't write books like these anymore. They were written in the 19th century and are full of Godly lessons. You will be very pleased with these books since you liked The Little Pilgrim's Progress.

Hi, Mi Books! Thanks for leaving a note. I see that we also have "Books Children Love" and "Creative Correction" in common as well. About the book "Boundaries," it's been years since I read it, but I think it worthy of reading. It explores relationships from a Biblical counseling perspective, especially focusing on the problem that many of us have of not keeping things in perspective in relationships, being overly reactive rather than responding appropriately, and especially being driven by the needs of others rather than responding to them in the context of all the things God has called us to do in our lives. That's what I took away from it based on my memory anyway. It tackles issues like enabling ("helping" others by doing what they really should attempt themselves; thereby we rob them of their growth and come to depend on their dependence of us) and things like that. I have found myself continuing to think about the issue of boundaries as an adult (I read the book in college). It goes beyond simplistic notions, but does not wander beyond a Biblical understanding of the human heart. It would be well worth your time and give you valuable insights as you raise your children.
Good to meet you! God bless! Paulette M

The kids and I have our special books. I'm so glad that I have a few more years to read the Children's Christmas books I have. They are my favoriate. Such memories I treasure.
