Why are you, Mermaid, of all maids, puzzled by my fondness for Murakami?

Howz life in Paris? I escaped from Texas to the Napa Valley and now Mendocino. Carrie's Story sounds up my tree. Any similar to recommend?

I was wondering if you have read Panic Snap yet. I just saw the reviews on Amazon and I can't belive how many people hated it.

I was looking at your shelf. You may like Venus Butterfly if you havn't already read it (It's like Memoirs of a Geisha if it was graphic erotica)

De Sade is one of my favorites. I have to say the same thing about Justine. I think I was 12 or 13 when I picked it up.

Yes, why it's absolutely the most brilliant book by Rushdie (IMHO)...Midnights Children. Grab a copy, shut off your mobile and landlines phones and dive in...I'm never one to spoil a plot for anyone...but here's some notes on the book. It won the Booker of Bookers - Best fictional book in 25 years. It's an amazing story and of course, his play with language is always brilliant..again...IMHO.

Throwing a bar of philly creme cheese into the mashed set-up always works for me. Great comfort food. Okay, so something about books might be in order. Rushdie -- Which one of his works are you most impressed with? Least?

Hmm..North Carolina? What can I say? Chapel Hill is fabulous..home of UNC. I'm not a native. Am actually from Annapolis, Maryland...lived in Washington DC for 12 years..then skipped over to the UK (London) and stayed there for four years. I miss the UK. Paris Texas ehh? I don't much about that area of the country. I've never been to Texas, but I've heard you have killer barb-b-que..LOL...North Carolina is so conservative politically, but I'm trying to change hearts and minds 1 day at a time...LOL...I hope this finds you having a magic week and finding time to read something interesting.

    Warm regards....JillMarie

I'm also curious about the absinthe thing. I take it you've tried it? Is it as crazy as they say it is - hallucinations etc?
