I was born in Hollywood, C.A. many, many moons ago. Schooled in classical piano at a Los Angeles conservatory, I smashed my parent's hopes and dreams when I turned my back on classical and instead fully embraced the punk rock movement in 1980. This awakening led to years of rabid record collecting and the building of an extensive archive of... more »

Hi Melanie! Please to meet you, er... "formally". Funny, I just followed you on Twitter without knowing you were the same person behind the Barrick Twitter feed! I just saw "museum girl" or whatever your profile says. I also checked out your website -- your photos are incredible!

I really like Shelfari, but I have probably a thousand books, maybe more, and so far all I've listed are the ones I could import from my list of books I've bought or rated at Amazon, which is only about 200 titles. That's why I was tweeting about how to get books in without buying a scanner. So my list here is a little non-representative.

Your list is small but awesome! Keith Moon, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash, Douglas Adams, Dorothea Lange, Robert Frank, and Andre Breton -- incredible! And you're lucky enough to be involved in the best museum in town (which isn't saying much on it's own, since it's just about the only one left, but there's a huge gab between Barrick and #2 as far as I'm concerned). I've brought my anthropology class at CSN there every semester I've taught it -- Mannetta is always kind enough to lead them through the Pro-Columbian collection, which is astounding. (I am actually running out of adjectives here...) Unfortunately, I haven't taught anthro for a year; I've been teaching WMST at UNLV and CSN instead. So I haven't been to the museum lately -- maybe I should drop by when I'm on campus some time...

    Thanks for the note!
