I've been reading since I can remember - I used to have this inflatable chair that I would put up on my bed and sit in to read. I have always been able to completely lose myself in a book - to completely tune out the world around me for hours on end. Although my room was always messy, I was willing to make the sacrifice.
In high school and college, I much preferred my own reading to those assigned, so it was natural that I became an English teacher. However, it is still very much true that I would rather read than complete my own work - grading papers isn't nearly as fun.
I also have my Master's in Library Science, just in case someone out there wasn't sure if I was a complete addict.
When I'm not reading, I'm teaching, working in the garden, running, hanging with my family, sleeping. I'm going to keep bees starting next spring, so I'm reading up on that and ordering all of my supplies.
To paraphrase an old quote, When I have a little money, I buy a book. When I have a little more, I buy food.
