    Hello, Mal,

    Please excuse me if I have intruded on the wrong conversation. I'm attempting to respond to "Should I read Insufficient Mating Material?" But, I'm not very good with Shelfari.

    My name is Rowena Cherry, I am the author of Forced Mate, Insufficient Mating Material, (also Mating Net ... a short) and Knight's Fork which comes out in October --and 5 free copies are being given away in the GoodReads.com "first reads" program.

    If you do not like underdog heroes who use the "F" word, then No, you should not read Insufficient Mating Material.

    If you like your hero to have lots of long blond hair, then No, you should not read this book. The hero of Insufficient Mating Material has been obliged to conceal his identity, and has resorted to a shaven look and a goatee until he is shot down on a tropical island without his shaving kit.

    If you look for slender, virginal, eighteen year old heroines, then No, this book will not suit you. The heroine is a 35 yr old rebellious princess with adolescent sons whom she cannot control. And she wears a corset.

    If the name Djetthro makes you think of Jethro Clampett, you may not be able to get into this book.

    The hero and heroine are shot down and marooned on a desert island. They do talk frankly about the problems of finding water, digging latrines, bathing, hunting for food, the potential for allergies. Then there is the problem that the hero has a flash-in-the-dark tattoo on his penis. Readers of great delicacy of mind might not appreciate the humor.

    However, you could visit my website and read a few excerpts before making up your mind.

    I forgot to add Shanna Swendson is a Texas author (hence the reference to you living in Texas) and her character was raised in Texas. The book that just came out is called "Don't Hex With Texas" and is the fourth in the series. By all means, read them in order as they build the story from book to book.

    I stumbled upon your note on another book and came to checkout your page, shelf, etc. I see that you live in Texas and like Paranormal Romance. I think you must also like humor since you have Janet Evanovich. I'd like to make a recommendation of a writer and series that I discovered in my job as a librarian who chooses fiction for a public library. I've recommended Shanna Swendson's series starting with Enchanted, Inc to several people and everyone so far has loved it. It is light, funny, and has urban magic (my name for it because it is set in contemporary New York City and has magic including fairies and frog princes). Just a note for your consideration. :-) I can't help it - I'm a librarian!
