Saw a review by Tim Challies (http://tinyurl.com/67crgp) of a book called "The Prodigal God". It looks like it might be something that you would be interested in as it deals primarily with the older son.

Jesus’ purpose in this parable “was not to warm our hearts, but to shatter our categories.”

Let me know if you read the book and what you think of it.

    And enjoy your Phillies win!

You might be the first person I've ever known who actually knows about that book...wow...I'm impressed. It's one of my favorites. If you are ever in my neck of the woods, let me know, and we can catch up over coffee!

That note from mdiddy is hilarious. I just finished "Sacred Journey" and, like all good writing, it seems like music to me. I love the resolution of the book, and how he remembers the people in his life with such fondness and reverence. Beautiful, just like the other two. Hope you're enjoying the shore!

Please leave me alone. I grow weary with these inquiries about books and such. I just want to watch TV.

Half way through "Grace" already, but I'll go to "Traveling Mercies" next. "Grace" is quite beautiful in many places--I laugh really loudly every couple of pages.

Hey, what do you think about Anne Lamott? I just picked up "Grace (Eventually)". From the description of her writing style and the book, I think I might like it (blast that Barnes and Noble, I just can't help myself!).

From the description of The Prophetic Imagination; "the prophetic vision not only embraces the pain of the people but creates an energy and amazement based on the new thing that God is doing." I MUST read this book, and soon...why is it in your top ten?
