I love mysteries, histories and funny stuff. Also stories which, how do I say it.."move the soul". I am a content wife and mother of three. I have homeschooled them from the beginning and am looking forward to the end! Two are graduated already. I lean on the Lord for my strength and support. All my reading matter is filtered through the...more »

I have read all of Diane Mott Davidson's books. Was introduced to her when we lived in Denver and I know all about the places she describes in her novels. I agree with you. Some of the stuff is not to be believed, but her recipes are wonderful. Have you tried any of them?

Maggie may be the last of my pets that I turn into since I just left my digital camera out in the rain:( I have a cat who looks like an irritated Condoleezza Rice. She'd make a wonderful avatar!

LeeLee - I am very impressed. Not only are you constantly adding new books, you seem to write wonderful reviews for many if not all. Our tastes in reading do not seem to overlap too much, but I am sure as Christian women we share many common interests. Wherever I look on Shelfari, you have been there and left a mark (I am much quieter) and I am glad to have you as a friend.

LeeLee, the thread was prompted by a couple of private messages I received yesterday, thanking me for doing the DduM group. I appreciate the thank yous very much. I responded with encouragement to join us or just post occasionally. Calling out a lurker is perhaps not the proper approach, I don't know -- calling attention to them is probably not what they want, but I thought I would give 'em a chance to jump in, in case they think they can't get a post in edgewise in already existing threads. I wish I could make them feel more comfortable and welcome. What to do, what to do?

How funny, I thought of you yesterday, but did not post a note to you. I'm trying to read more and spend less time talking about it at Shelfari, LOL. I'm always busy with housework, etc, etc. I kept my granddaughter that is 4 for 2 weeks, she kept me busy. How is your summer? I finished a great, wonderful, book yesterday "Heaven without Her" a memoir, I cried, story about a daughter that's mother died, of course my mother just died. Take care.

I have about 10 new friends added. I was very surprised at the response to my invitation. I guess interest in reading is not dead! (smile).

Okay, I found it. I didn't realize that it referred to the request to join I sent out through my mailbox. For some reason, not only did people I didn't intend get it, but some got Four (4) email requests each! But people are joining .. now we'll see if they add to it. Anne

I have about 6 new friends from my own list of people. It should be interesting to see how it works out. It said I had a message from you, but I don't see how to pick it up ..?

Hahaha, I actually got the idea of "kissing" the camel from the movie, The Mummy. If you've seen it you would note that at the end a guy goes up to a camel and says, "Hello, darling, how about a kissy kissy?" I actually didn't like the movie but I loved that line, so I thought to myself that if I ever saw a camel I would act like I was kissing it. Morocco was very cool. If you ever have the chance to go... take it!

Oh, no. You weren't misleading. A lot of kids were in and out of school in that era.
I think that her thesis would be of interest to homeschoolers when she gets around to finishing and publishing it.
Thank you for your compliment on my avatar. Knitting is one of my interests.
    Nice to meet you.

Hi Lee, the holiday was lovely, we did a lot of walking and reading, and I am not yet reconciled to the fact that I'm back and all the usual duties are waiting for me... Ah well, that's life, I suppose. See you around here!
