Weaver of course is a well known Penn Dutch expert. I had the chance to hear him talk at a symposium in Ann Arbor back in 2007. That was great. I used to work at a living history farm where we did some Penn Dutch cooking and we used his books as some of our reference material. I have a favorite Michigan Author, Dr. Chase. Although I don’t think any of his books are in reproduction. He wrote during the mid and late 19th century. He has a wonderful recipe for Rough and Ready cakes, which he got from the ladies of Rough and Ready, PA! It is a delightful cookie type recipe for soft gingerbread. Keeps well too. Just getting started here at shelfari, been trying to figure out a way to organize my books.

I see you have Sauerkraut Yankees. one of my favorite cook books. I'm new to this shelfari thing, but I sure do like it. I'm a food historian and weaver is one of my fav authors. I actually have both editions but can't figure out how to post both!

Thanks for admiring my Halloween costume. It seems opinion is split--some love it, others are afraid I'll leave it up past Halloween. It's in keeping with my old avatar and my love for Harper Lee. Your can-kitty is quite sweet, as is the fact that you are a librarian. I adore my library liaison, would get lost in the research electronica without her (yep, I miss card catalogs).
