I was born and raised in Carmel, California - a small seaside community founded in 1914 as a literary retreat. Carmel, and the Monterey Peninsula, has attracted the likes of poets Robinson Jeffers and George Sterling; authors John Steinbeck, Jack London, Dean Koontz, Robert Campbell, and Robert Louis Stevenson; and a myriad of actors, including screenwriter, director and actor Clint Eastwood. With so many noted literary professionals, it's no wonder I started writing stories as soon as I was old enough to hold a pen.
I loved Ireland ever since I could remember and when the opportunity arose to visit Ireland, I couldn't pass it up. So, putting my things in storage and assuring my family "I'll be back," I set off for a six month tour of Ireland. More than ten years later, I'm still here, married to a wonderful Irishman and have two hairy kids, Daisie and Poppy, who are both working Border Collies...albeit on a freind's farm, not ours.
Because of my love of Ireland and extensive travel around the island, I set my latest four novels in Ireland - The Irish Pride trilogy ("Just Once", "A Piece of My Heart" and "At Last") and "The Diary" (current WIP).
In 2006 I saw four of my short stories published through Highland Press: Tutti-Frutti Blues and Dude Looks Like A Lady in the RIO acclaimed No Law Against Love anthology (Feb), Moondance in the Pearl Nominated Blue Moon Enchantment anthology (Nov) and The Power of Love in the Holiday in the Heart anthology (Dec 06)...the latter two stories were also set in Ireland.
Because of my knowledge of Ireland, I have had the privilege of working with some top authors who have set their stories in Ireland, including Deb Stover for "Mulligan Stew" and "Mulligan Magic" in which I was the researcher.
I'm a member of the Central Coast Writers group, a chapter of the California Writer's Club, established in 1909. I hold the disctinct honor of being the only international member.
I'm also a founding member of RIO-Reviewers International Organization and currently hold the position of President. www.rio-reviewers.com.
And if I weren't busy enough already, by day I'm a travel consultant specializing in holidays to Ireland. www.all-ireland.com
