Two other interesting ones (that I have read) are "The Secret Life of Bees" (Kidd) -- very similar to "To Kill a Mockingbird" and Freakonmics (can't remember the author offhand) -- very interesting, it's a book that makes you think. Okay. Now it's your turn to give me a recommendation. :)
I was just reviewing your shelf... I swear, we have the same taste in book styles (what a shocker there, lol). I'm thinking that you should read the the 48 Laws of Power. I haven't read it yet (only skimmed it), so we can try to sync up our reading. From what I've skimmed, though, it looks really good.

I LOVE that plan. We could do a little long-distance book group! Have you read the Purpose Driven Life (Warren) or 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (Covey) yet? I've also been hankering to read one called the Skinny B**** (don't know the author). Not such a nice title, but it got my attention.
