Welcome to my bookshelf. I have read all of the books that I have put on my shelves. I love to read, but I guess you already figured that out, since I have joined this site. I also love a wide range of music.
I love the way a book feels in my hands and I love the anticipation of opening a new book and entering a new world. In a blank book, I have written every book that I have read since 1977 and NO they are not all entered here. Looking back over it you can see the outline of my life, when I was pregnant, when I was raising kids, when my ex-husband left, when I was studying to become a yoga teacher, etc.
I am the mother of two wonderful sons in their 20s. I have been teaching yoga full time for 8 years and I opened my own studio last year. One of the long shelves of my bookcase is filled with books about yoga, yoga philosophy, and books with readings and poems for my classes.
Usually I am reading one book about yoga and one book for pure pleasure. When I love a book, instead of reading it quickly like most people do, I tend to slow down and savor it. I hate to see a good book end, but then I wait a day, savoring the aftermath and then go to my bookcase and choose another.
Buying books is a disease for me, because I usually have at least 25 books in the case that I haven't read yet. When it is time to choose a book, I go up to my bookcase and pull out a few until one "settles" in my hand.
I have passed on my book disease to my oldest son, because he is now in graduate school for Library Science. He now works for Yale's, rare books library.
All good things, Lynne
