Joshua Spencer was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica. He is the proud father of three children, Michael, Kaliese and Kadisha. He claimed, as home, several addresses in his local country due to situations of which he had no control. For eleven years, he served as a high school science teacher in Jamaica. He also served in many youth organizations and clubs including the PNPYO (People's National Party Youth Orgnization) as Constituency Chairman (the then South Eastern Westmoreland Constituency), Parish Secretary (Westmoreland) and Parish Chairman (Westmoreland). He currently resides and teaches in Toronto, Canada to which he emigrated on December 20, 1993.
In Joshua Spencer's early days, he was educated at Manning's School, Jamaica's second oldest high school, having been founded in 1738 and Sam Sharpe Teachers' Training College, then affiliated to the University of the West Indies (UWI) as was the case with the Jamaican teachers' colleges then. He is also a graduate of York University, Canada's third largest university (51,000 students).
He has a natural talent in writing; a skill he discovered as a child, soon after the murder of his father, Charles Spencer, a local bookkeeper/accountant at the then Pemco Hotel, East Street, Montego Bay, Jamaica. He has had several publications in newspapers locally and abroad, including among others, the esteemed Jamaica Gleaner and Observer. He is currently the author of four books, one of which is a book of poetry, "Fluctuating Life", reflecting on his life's challenges. His autobiography/memoir entitled, "From New Mills to New Life" was published on October 28, 2009. It is now available at amazon.com to be ordered. This is his most recent piece of work. This is a quite extra-ordinary piece of work.
