What is funny is that the Orwell book is actually called Keep the Aspidistra Flying. I'm such a flake. I'm at a point where that confusion makes more sense but still...sigh.As long as Warlock doesn't have Russian names I'm fine with large casts. I like that. I know exactly how you feel about the movie. The funny thing is it was with the Magus (I swear). The movie was pretty good and I could tell the book would be amazing so I stopped it about 1/2 an hour into it. I may never revisist it based on how much I like the book.I'm passing on a set of Orwell's essays that I used to own. They have it in town for 28 bucks...I may go there tonight but otherwise, no chance. I love his simple, straightforward brains. I did pick up a collection of Schism zine and a Julie Doucet book that I didn't have (that strip book).
Hello, I read you not to I,Dylan Williams, about The Summer Book being next on your TBR list. Just to let you know that I enjoyed this book tremendously, and this was my "Book of 2006" (I know it is much older!). I hope you enjoy it as much as I did
Wow, I just added Warlock to my wish list. I think there was a movie or I've heard that book mentioned before. Looks to be great. I'm reading George Orwell's Let the Aspidistra Fly right now. I've decided I need to revisit Orwell as an adult out of my 20s. I've always love him but I feel like I never really got a lot of the subtext. I'm re-getting his essays next chance I have. I love Tove Johnson's work, are the kids books as good as that strip was? I have another friend who loves her work too.
