Through some diabolical glitch at Shelfari I ended up with TWO accounts and could only sign in to the newly created one. So I've had to transfer all of my books and, more or less, start from scratch. In the process I've also lost all of my "friends" and "followers". I've tried to get Shelfari to correct the situation to no avail. They keep referring me to Amazon and the Amazon "help" people claim never to have heard of Shelfari. Hope you'll continue to "follow" me at my new location. Gunter

I just re-read you note from the friendship reques and we really do have a lot in common. That includes a high percentage of books - 52 of your books are on my shelf too. That's quite a bit.

Thanks for the request and welcome to Shelfari! I also love the library and buying books and Ebooks! I try the library first now as a rule, though....the new, patient me can wait my turn. I try not to spend too much on books these days but if I get a gift card? LOOK OUT!! Ha I was worried when I received my nook as a gift that I would spend more than I should...

I am a married mom of 2 teens and a big brown dog. :) I coordinate a book club and have a black belt in TaeKwonDo...

I have been a reader my whole life...dad was a public school librarian and there was never a shortage of reading material.

Yes, there are lots of things I wish I'd focused on more when I was younger. I wish I'd asked my grandmother more questions about her childhood and the family. I wish I'd studied harder in high school and gone to college when I was young instead of waiting 20 years to get my bachelor's degree. On the other hand, life makes you wiser and I do think I got more out of the college experience as a "seasoned" adult.

I got my MBA 6 years ago when I was 49. But Medieval Studies is a bit hard to do online - no one offers it and I certainly can't ignore the bills and go back to school.

Oh, my dream....I would love a degree in medieval studies! I just started our quarterly book read and it is fascinating - a real look at medieval England. If you can find the book and have time to read it, I think you'd find it interesting.

Hi Jocelyn - Welcome to the History Non-Fiction Group. There are a few group rules posted at the top of the group page. Please take a moment to review and if you haven't already done so, introduce yourself in our "Welcome and Introduction" thread and tell us what your interests are. Our group reads are done on a quarterly basis and we are reading The Time Traveller's Guide to Medieval England by Ian Mortimer for the Jan - Mar Quarterly Group Read. Discussion will be in March. Hope you'll join us and again, glad to have you with us.
