I like to read...obviously. My main interests are history and historical fiction and I also like murder mysteries in historical settings. I'm obsessed with the medieval period...what would I do if I had unlimited funds? Get a medieval studies degree and write! I'm also enjoying more of the classics, particularly British authors, these days. ... more »

I would never dream of tarnishing your reputation Oodles. It is my strong desire to do everything in my power to make a good impression upon the group. The night is still young, however, perhaps through dedication, the day will not be so long in coming.

I listened to it. Edward Herrmann is a great reader, but this is a book that needs the pictures to help tell the story. I kept going from the car to the computer to google for the visual input.

I have indeed! I suspect with such lovely weather, he may be detained in London as we speak. I have in fact received a correspondence that when he returns I shall have an invitation.

I'm off to brew another pot of Earl Grey and read more of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy's sparring.

It is me! Do you like the change? I think it fits me like a glove. I am as giddy as a school girl.

It is a family name both given and surname. Tryphosa being my three times great-grandmother's name. The census takers had a horrible time trying to spell it. The Pepperdine's are from Fiskerton, Lincolnshire. Isn't genealogy grand!

"India: A History" by John Keay.
I was watching Jodhaa Akbar (which is a really great movie, if you're interested) and realized "I know NOTHING about Indian history other than Gandhi."
So I set about to remedy that.

I found it here during a Google search a few years ago. That
was when I took over as the admin for the group:

The comments give you some info about its origin, Jerseygirl.

I found it for ONE DOLLAR!! And it's the really old copy that I posted on my shelf! I was thrilled - and now I"m really looking forward to reading it.

I told myself that I would read ONE non-fiction book before I dove back into another novel, so that's what I'm doing.

I'm so glad you liked Quiet Strength, Jan

It's good to read about others faith, particularly in adversity.

Oh I love "Blue Fairy" as well and I'm sure I'll go back to her at some point. I woke up one morning and felt like being Gene Tierney for a bit. I suspect a large part of it was curling up with a cup of Earl Grey and watching The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.

Muriel Spark arrived today just as Lord Peter Wimsey was on his way out. What luck! Thanks much for pointing me in the direction of The Comforters. I shall brew myself a nice pot of tea and become acquainted with her.

I'm so glad you enjoyed my website. My webmaster is a darling young woman and i love what she did with the stuff i sent to her. Thank you for putting A VERYPRIVATE GRAVE on your TBR. I do hope you enjoy it. I saw on your page that you especially enjoy the Medieval period, so hopefully you'll find my historical background interesting.

Oh deer! The tulips won't stand much chance if you live close to the forest; squirrels and mice like them too. But getting the deer to visit your backyard seems like a nice enough compensation for a tulip-less garden!
