Nothing warms my heart faster than the sight of a book I haven't yet read...unless it is the sight of a book I've read and loved and read again.

Ooh, somebody read something I said on the Internet and liked it! That warms me down to the cockles of my heart!

My ego aside, I'm glad someone out there still has the affection for the Sunfires. Man, I used to eat those things like candy. Oh, and eventually I did get a copy of Kathleen that wasn't exorbitantly priced on Amazon Marketplace. I don't think I ever got around to writing a review, and now it's been a while and I'll have to reread it in order to form coherent thoughts. And yes, Jessica is completely my favorite, probably followed by Amanda, since I have a sentimental soft spot for Oregon Trail stories.

Let me know if you ever embark on the quest for yourself! I gotta warn you though, an intensely nerdy discussion may possibly result!

I LOVED Trixie Belden when I was a kid. I have about 25-30 of them. Have they reissued them? The last time I tried to find them to complete the set, I was told they were out of print...

Sorry- I got started on the nook and completely ignored your Passage comment! I'm glad to know you are enjoying it. I can't wait to start it. I just started a summer school class though and am afraid to begin anything that might distract me from my textbook! ;-)

I really like it alot! I took it with me on vacation last week and besides a couple of magazines too- it was all the reading material I had with me. I got it for my 40th bday this year. I have about 15 books on it right now. What's amazing are all the free books you can get. Have you ever read Willkie Collins? I loved his Woman in White and wanted to read more. Most of his stuff is available for free through the Google Books scanning project. B&N let's you download a lot of that thru their site. Anyway- I won't ever completely give up regular books, but it's fun.

    Hi Jennifer,
I just got The Passage on my Nook. Can't wait to read it. Are you enjoying it so far? I was a little hesitant to buy it b/c it had mixed reviews online...

Thanks for the scoop. That series has been on my "to-read" list for a looong time. Right now I am reading lots of Young Adult stuff b/c I work at a Highschool library and want to stay up with our patrons- plus, some of it, I love! Hope you find that book soon- frustrating!

Hey Jennifer! Have you already read the Dark Tower series? I am an on-again, off-again Stephen King fan and have always wanted to tackle that series, but have heard mixed reviews. Since I'm currently working full-time and back in school, I have limited reading time so wanted to know if you think it should be on my "definitely read someday!!" list. Thanks!

Thanks for the friend request! Emi is adorable- just like your Rags. She was really supposed to be my daughter's cat, but has turned out to be my constant companion- probably b/c my daughter walks around playing loud music on her phone constantly! ;) Emi also prefers a quiet lap and is not too jealous when she has to share it with a book! Looking forward to seeing what you are reading!

I was checking out the "members like you" option and ran across you. We share simillar names, although I go by Jen and I'm sure our last names are different since mine is my married, Bulgarian name, but I was struck by the picture of who I assume is your cat. She or he looks soooo much like mine!! Her name is Emi and we just adopted her in December. She's got to be friendliest, sweetest pet who has ever been a part of our family. I'm going to see if I can post a pic of her somewhere on my page. So you can check her out. sorry- I know this has nothing to do with books, but I was just struck by the pic!

If and when you do read One is the Sun, don't expect much. The writing is atrocious as is the character development. I did like the history of the area in which I live and a fictionalized account of how it may have been. Johnny Grant and Con Warren are historical figures; Warren was the author's relative. She was born and raised in the house that is part of the Grant Kohr's Ranch, a national park in the Deer Lodge community. Just an FYI, maybe more than you wanted to know.

I'm just finishing One Is The Sun by Patricia Nell Warren, who came from the Deer Lodge Valley where I live. What, may I ask, inspired you to read the book, and your impression of it?
