No it doesn't become plausible. Ultimately, I think I enjoyed 1Q84 even though it is totally crazy. So far my favorite review is the New York Review of Books: http://www.nybooks.com/articles/archives/2011/dec/08/behind-murakamis-mirror/?pagination=false
I don't want to accidentally spoil anything, so we can talk about specific elements when you finish it.

I definitely read Black Swan Green sometime in 2006, but I can't remember what I would have rated it.

Yeah you're hard on literature like me. I just finished Hunter Thompson's "Rum Diaries". It was fabulous. It was so hard to put down and I finished it in less than three days. I'm trying to read as many books as I possibly can while I'm on my break. I've gotten through three so far. I read "The Great Gatsby" (yes, for the first time), "Farenheit 451"(which is actually really good and thought provoking), and "The Rum Diaries". I haven't had a disappointed yet.

I'll definitely get you the dates and times. I have to be honest though. You aren't really making the Murakami book sound very appealing.ha. Is it an older one of his?

I'm actually taking Southern Lit this summer.. It's a 4 hour lecture every Friday morning!! Yea! I have a feeling that some Faulkner will definitely be discussed, and probably some Eudora Welty (I think thats how you spell her name). She's pretty kooky; crazy dialog. I've had such a hard time deciding what to put on my shelf because I've read so many short stories. You can't read one short story from someone and say you've read their anthology can you? ha.

Side note: We're getting classes back at the gym, and I'm going to be teaching a Power Yoga class.. You should think about joining us.

Some of them are really hard to follow because the Southern dialect is so intense, but "A Rose for Emily" has been one of my favorite stories for years.

I am so glad you liked it! I was surprised when the novel changed and Jacob was no longer the center of attention, but Miss Aibagawa becomes a sister at Mount Shiranui Shrine. I was awed when the reason for the the shrine's existence becomes clear and the ancient rituals are reveals along with the failed attempt to free her. But for me the most stunning piece of writing came in the room of the last chrysanthemum, when Shiroyama murders Lord Abbott Enomoto with a poison extracted from a tree snake found only in a Siamese delta. I was left me breathless. What a novel, what an epic! Try Cloud Atlas it's also very good. Or read what I said about THE WAKE OF FORGIVENESS or THE TATTOO ARTIST.

Finally got a copy of A Thousand Autumns from the library. I'm ready to read it whenever you're ready.

Glad that you and Jake enjoyed The Funny Little Woman! I loved it when I was a kid, and I still enjoy it. It's funny that you're about to read Black Hole. I've had it on my bookshelf for a long time, but only read about half of it. Then the other day I decided to try it again, and I read it all in one night. I want to read Charles Burns' latest "X'ed Out" as soon as the library has an available copy.

I hope you like the sequels. They weren't quite the same as GWTW, but I enjoyed them. I always wanted the story of Rhett and Scarlett to continue.

Yes, let's definitely plan to read The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet in a month! As for Super Sad, it received lots of favorable reviews and ended up on several best-of-the-year lists; maybe you'll enjoy it more than I did. It just didn't work for me.
