    Hi Barbara,

Just dropping by to say "hello". Sorry I haven't had more time to spend here in Shelfari. Hope you've been reading some great books!

    Dear Helen Taylor Little friends,
I know this is very hard to believe but due to the fact that Helen was the only one that had the passwords to her page in Shelfari this is the only way the family had to communicate to you. Helen passed away July 12, 2008 from a massive heart attack at her home in Florida.
The memorial service was Monday in Florida then her body was flown back to North Carolina for burial in Mebane, North Carolina.
Thank you for the friendships and encouragement that you gave her. Remember that she will always be in our hearts and through her words and books that she has left behind.
Again, I am so sorry that you had to read this here but this was the only way I could pay tribute to such a wonderful and talented woman. We all know how caring and kind she was. Plz pray for her to be at peace with God.
    may God bless you all

    Sincerely,
    Aunt Taylor's adopted niece
    Shadi

There is a link on her website on the left menu bar (http://www.kelleyarmstrong.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi). It's a great place to talk about her books, as well as others in that genre. My favorite is Industrial Magic. It is the best one in the series. I liked Jaime's development as a character in No Humans Involved (and I am a Jeremy fan). Check out the short stories and novellas on Kelley's website too, if you haven't already.

Thank you for the tips concerning the Karon books! I will purchase the first one and work the others into the reading I am already planning! Too many books - not enough time!! I bet you know exactly what I mean. :

Thanks for your reply. The Kite Runner is a bit discordant for a lady of delicate sensibilities.

    Hi GR,

I like the message you put in your Profile about declining authors you have not read. A good idea.

    Happy Easter,

Your reply, "I almost wish I hadn't read it because the imagery was so vivid that I couldn't get those pictures out of my head." concerning slavery was the way I felt about the Kite Runner.

    Hi GR,

Thanks for those good wishes. I had lots of message from my e mail friends, but sadly no actual cards from admirers!

    Best Wishes,

    Hi, GourmetReader.
I sent you a friend request...and, no...not just because I am an author. We seem to share similar tastes in books. I love seeing what fellow readers enjoy. I find a number of good authors that way. I do write, but I am, above all, an avid reader.

Someone told me about that you can click on a person's shelf and look at the bottom left for "books in common". If you click on that, it'll show you what they are. Pretty neat! I'm going to bug all my buddies ...

    Books in common: 50

Have you begun Southern Living yet? Just the title sounds appealing! I'm especially fond of the Southern dysfunctional family as a reading topic. Guess I'll quit being so lazy and go to my library site and take a peek to see what it's about. See ya!

Hi GourmetReader, and Happy New Year!
I'm just getting my 2008 books lined up and was wondering if you can recommend some books. I want to read more classics this year, so I've ordered up some Hemingway, Kafka, Tolstoy and Dylan Thomas. I also love modern fiction such as "The Life of Pi", Dean Koontz, ect.
    What are your favorites?

And to think I'm gettting ready to go swimming. It's in the 80's. But I'd love to spend a week in the snow.
Can you believe how fast 2007 raced by? WOW!!
Three days and the sun rises on 2008. Golly, that means another book to tap out, but I'm looking forward to it.
I pray the new year grows much happiness and prosperity within yer heart.
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
    God bless...

Hey, Barbara! Just stumbled into you here by accident. Would've never known you by your username, but thank Crikey for userpics ;-) I was scanning Lisa Unger's friends, and up you popped, so I thought I'd drop by and join your merry clan. Jodi Picoult's books are brilliant, but the ones I haven't read are never available at the library - that's probably a sign that I've got to reserve them ;-)

    Have a lovely day! :-)

Getting any holiday snow in Michigan?
My book is doing well; I'm pleased to say. Of course I always want more readers. Can't get enough of them.
Wanted to send a quick note and wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas!
Dang, is 2008 only two weeks away? Gracious, where did the year go?
God be with you and may all your holidays be bright.
    Always,
    Taylor
