I live in Washington and i love to read. Every book on my shelf I really do own.

I'm also an aspiring writer, avid video gamer, and 2nd degree black belt in Teakwondo.

Aside from all that I love music, hiking, being outdoors, spending time with my family and friends, playing my Trumpet, and watching shows like NCIS.

Joshua, "Tales of the Dying Earth" by Jack Vance is perhaps the quintessential collection of sci/fi fantasy/adventure stories ever written by one of the most revered and awarded authors to write in this genre. The words that come to mind when trying to describe his incredible achievement are: wondrous, magnificent, epic, spellbinding, dazzling, exquisite, inventive, wordsmithery, magical, elegant, enthralling, engrossing, imaginative, original, mellifluous pacing, atmospheric backdrops, transformational, fantastical storylines! I read the first story in this collection when i was 11 years old and the others in the ensuing years. Over the years I have read the collection over 20 times, each time reflecting on the joy it brings me and its life changing impact on my reading addiction. Just imagine being able to transform written words from your minds eye into life-like visions and you will then understand the sensual impact of Jack Vance's brilliance! Ironically, because of its unique qualities I have always been protective and therefore reluctant to expose this truly fabulous literary experience to others for fear of diminishing its value to me...a misguided supposition I know, but true never-the-less. So, if you want to take a journey into the unknown and wander through the beautiful worlds as penned by a master scribe then you will want to read this incredible collection of stories and revel in their beatific perfection. Storytelling at its best; a masterpiece...

Hey, I noticed we had a lot of books in common and saw you do some writing too. Any chance you know of a writer's groups up here in Olympia or have any interest in forming one?

Joshua hi, I've come across a story that is so exeptional I had to write you about it. It's titled "Nathan's Run" by John Gilstrap and I think you will find it as moving and inspiring as I did. While a fictional account it is an emotional coming-of-age journey that will pull at your heartstrings and give you pause to think about the power of the human spirit. Enjoy and READ ON...

Joshua, you're welcome, both of these trilogy's had the same effect on me, they are simply fantastic. Having said that I have happened onto several more for you to add to your wish list :). Both are debut trilogy's by two new stars in the epic coming-of-age fantasy/adventure genre: "The Kingkiller Chronicles" by Patrick Rothfuss and "The First Law" trilogy by Joe Abercrombie. I think you are going to love them both. "The Black Prism" BRING IT ON! I sure hope "A Dance With Dragons," George R.R. Martin's 5th book in "A Song of Ice and Fire Series" comes out next October, he's soooooooo slow:(!...Merry Christmas to you and yours, READ ON...

Hi there! I'm just dropping by to welcome you to The 100+ Book Challenge. The idea of the group is pretty much self explanatory - try to read 100 or more books in a one year period. If you do have any questions, please feel free to send a message to me or Tenia. In the meantime, good luck reaching your goal!
