I am a 41 y.o. at-home mom of a twelve-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son in Granger, IN, just outside of South Bend (Go Irish!) I love my babies, but reading is my escape from the world of Legos, twirling, school, and sports--not to mention the whining and begging that go along with being a mom (theirs, not mine--that doesn't... more »

That J.Patrick Lewis quote says it all, really....................... Historical novels? You know the English author (are there still 'authoresses'?) Rosemary Sutcliff? Terribly crippled from a very young age, she was a real introction in my youth to various periods in English history. I feel that 'her' Arthur (Artor, of course) in SWORD AT SUNSET has never been bettered. Her Elizabethan novels, such as THE ARMOURER'S HOUSE are absolute vignettes! Just this last year, her
EAGLE OF THE NINTH was filmed by Hollywood as EAGLE.

hey I'm just seeing if they have recommendations for me. my son is only 2 but there has to be books out there that are more than silly rhymes and non-sense stories. We're hoping for Christ-oriented stories and/or something he will learn to sit for longer than 3 minutes. if you have no suggestions, thanks for reading this anyway!

Love is a home for your soul, a spiritual blueprint which allows us to build a life guided purpose and divine light. Love washes over us like raindrops from heaven bathing us in meaning, purpose and joy. Seek the company of souls adrift and let your love wash over them as doing so will awaken humanity to unimaginable bliss. Love is the karmic whole that enables us to live life in a more conscious way. Love!

I just wanted to let you know that the shelfari staff promoted me to co-admin on the historical ficiton group. I wanted to introduce my self and say I am excited to work with you on managing the group. I think it will be good to have more admins so when one of us can't be online because of other issues, there is someone managing the helm. It seems to be a large and popular group. Please feel free to contact me at anytime!
    See you in the group

Don't forget to sign up to pick one of this month's authors over at Author, Author. Check out who we're reading this month, and help us pick for next month. Just find the discussion titled "Sign up to choose February's author" and put your name in the hat.

    Hey Julie,

I just wanted to ask your advice on something. I joined Paperback Book Swap and wanted to try a Jean Plaidy book. Was wondering if Uneasy Lies the Head is a good first choice since I at least have a passing familiarity and interest in the Tudors? Or would you recommend something else?

    Why Julie:

what a grand surprise! I tell you, and without reserve....I Love You. But yes, it's not my Daughter....It's her Childhood friend "Bird!" She went to work one day, collarpsed, they found leisions on her brain. I requested to pray....Or in your
case, perhaps write a word of encouragement! Seeing I remember our past experiences. Nevertheless, as for your and
i'll quote you verbatim "Just Dropped by to tell you that I was thinking of you! (Me).

To that, I say....THANX! And DITTO! Because I will never stop ever, even in death, "STOP LOVING YOU!" iT'S JUST
SIMPLY NOT POSSIBLE. NOT IN THIS LIFETIME OR THE ONE TO COME!

But already know how I feel....if not, then please allow I Love you to (SUFFICE) coupled with this one very important question. is
there anyway (And I asked you question quite a long time ago. But is there anyway that we can combine our incredible minds
to agree on our becoming great, and better friends? Julie....I know that you are a married woman, and believe me, I would....... never approach you in disrespect. But as I said in the past....I would Love a way to enhance this friendship.

Can we, please find away to become more deeper and consistent friends. I am sorry to say, however, dispite my Great Love for you. Had you not ritten to jog my Memory, I was on my way to forgetting you. Please, I adjure you, To help me to prevent
that from happening! But that, that, is only if the feeling is Mutual!

    JASS!

    I Love You Immensely!

I do not ever won't to wake up another day and find myself endangered in losing this (our) Friendship!
