MY THOUGHTSDO NOT ADVERTISE ON MY PAGE BEYOND A 'HEY MY BOOK IS OUT' AND WEB ADDRESS. ANYTHING OTHER THAN THIS WILL BE DELETED...
My shelf contains books I have read over the course of my life. My (not-so) Top 10 are not so because there are more than ten of my favorite reads listed. My reading list has the books that I plan to read at some point in my life. I'm always going back in time when I read. New and upcoming books are okay in my world, but there are so many that were created earlier that I've missed and NEED to read. Those are priority for me.
For the past two years, I've been heavily engrossed in Urban fiction (street lit, ghetto fiction, or whatever other names they are called--sounds familiar doesn't it). Despite the reputation it has for being unedited, plot-less glorification of the negative ills of society, I have come to the conclusion that the genre bares the same burdens as others. There are some good, bad, and 'special' novels but as readers, it's required that we sift through them all. So, I guess I don't understand the hype. I see a long future for Urban fiction and am positive that it holds only bigger and better things.
What do I know though? I'm a Cleveland Browns fan so I'm always rooting for the underdog.
