“Bernard Cornwell has created a rich and deep character in his Richard Sharpe series. Sharpe's Eagles is the first one published, though not the first in chronological order. I rate this book, and in fact all of the books in the seriies, as a success because the user puts the book down wanting to know more about the Napoleonic wars. I have learned much about the history of the early 19th century, and it's done in an interesting and gripping way. Cornwell has clearly done his research, and it is the small detailes of the time that bring the book alive. A great novel in a great series, and I would higly recommend them.”
