"Madman in the Mirror" is a story about a man - Henry Johnson - who is raised by a psychopath and forced to watch - even as a baby - his father murder people on a regular basis. He is also abused and brainwashed, turning him into a sociopath. Henry stalks and murders people efficiently - he tells himself that he may be a killer, but he doesn't want people to suffer. He is haunted by hallucinations, including a specter in his mirror that talks to him.
“A.J. is a master at creating word images that remain with the reader long after the book is finished.” Richard S. Friedman
Murder, romance and the paranormal. It is sprinkled with humor. Also contains ghosts, a dog that’s adopted by Henry and a crazy hooded merganser duck. And a baby as his arch enemy.
This MIGHT be a little like Dracula if written by J. K. Rowling. It’s a place where magic and vampires interweave for an exciting adventure. Dracula: HEARTS OF STONE
We start with a shiny new pot of boiling water and add too many evil vampires, and not enough of the good biters. Toss in one suicidal Dracula; add a cup of mayhem and a dash of romance. Oh yes, and a pinch of mirth. Stir lovingly and you have a new novel by A. J. Gallant. If it sounds like the recipe for you then you must read Dracula: Hearts of Stone. Dracula commands it. February or March 2012. Probably February but perhaps March. Coming soon, yes that’s it.
New York City is under attack.
Dracula is suicidal in a world where evil vampires are in the early stages of taking over. The Master has lived too long and can’t find a reason to face another day. Nasty vampires are feeding on vulnerable mortals and causing chaos. Years ago he trained valiant sheriffs and expects them to defend the humans but they are being overrun. Piers Anthony, the author, is now a vampire. He spends his days attempting to get the Master to snap out of it and to defend the humans, without losing his head.
A 12-year-old girl is a rare hybrid, half human and half vampire; she was conceived the normal way, with her mother a mortal and her father a vampire. Jenny is slowly discovering that she may be a blood wizard. She’s already an accomplished vampire killer and can cast spells, but an underground figure has noticed the girl. Some believe that she might be the one of legend that tips the scale toward good.
Sheriff Alexander and his vampire German shepherd stand and fight for justice.
Will the red sheriffs be overrun? Will Michael finally get the courage to ask out the sheriff?
It’s a tale of magic, romance and fangs. Dracula: Hearts of Stone Book One of Three. February or March 2012.
Hi Fede,
I see that Ejaygirl has already replied to you.
I hope that you enjoy the book.

Carnal Innocence is a single, standalone Nora Roberts title.
If we ever choose a book from a series, it will be the first one, with a commitment to read all of them in the series.
Thanks for your question.

Hello thank u. What is the best Elizabeth George to start with??? How about Ian RAnkin.... I have a couple by Fred Vargas but never read them. Thanks for the info. I am going to read Black House by KIng/Straub. My favorite author is actually im not sure. I like anyone that has some suspense and murder in it. I have alot on my shelf but have not read yet. I want to try Patricia Cornwell soon. I just bought alot of Grisham and I look forward to trying him also. I was reading Stephen King in October but I could not get with this writing that much. Im hoping Black House will be good...
Hello Fede, I see that u like Barker.... Would u consider Weaveworld as a fantasy novel or horror. How about the great and secret show???
Spreading joy
Life is best when it is filled with giving. We are, each of us, unique, with our own contribution to make. At the same time, we are part of a greater whole. Giving is what keeps us connected.
When we celebrate Christmas today we celebrate a gift given in perfect love and grace. By giving of ourselves, we experience in a profound and undeniable way the joy of that gift.
By sincerely giving, we no longer must merely believe that it is more blessed to give than to receive. By giving of ourselves, we know and experience the reality of that beautiful truth.
Give, not to make an impression, not to fulfill an obligation or to repay a debt, but for the sheer joy of doing so. For it is a joy that will spread far beyond you each time you live and experience it.

So, Faith, why DO people love to watch horror movies? Why do we like to be scared witless?
(Yes, I went to my local Italian market and asked what Fede meant)
Nightbreed is one of my all-time favorite B-movie horror flicks. Reasonably faithful to the book, as far as can be done.
I'd be interested to see your thesis ... but it's probably in Italian, isn't it?
Thanks for the friend invite. I do have many hobbies like dark moves, Quilting, scrap booking, gardening, hiking/camping and shelfari has become an addiction. I’m not much of a Internet “chatter”, but I do love surfing member shelf’s and finding books and authors I’ve never even heard of.
Judging by the books on your shelf, I think you may like my new group “psychotic serial killers and deadly hauntings”. If you get a chance come check it out.
hey fede, yes, check out great and secret show for sure, one of my favorites. as for weaveworld, i'd only read if you liked secret show alot first. cycle of the werewolf is great and a quick read with amazing illustrations by berni wrightson, one of the best horror artists of all time which makes it worth reading in itself.
Welcome to the Chiller group! Right now, our authors for the month of July are Richard Matheson and James Herbert. Feel free to read any of their books and post what you read, your review, etc. in the thread for July reads. If you do not want to participate that is fine too, just letting you know what is going on. There are also some other threads I want to tell you about. Introduce yourself, where you just tell all of us a little about yourself, a game of 20 questions is going on if you want to jump in there, and we are currently voting for our August author. You'll find a link in the "Please Vote Here" post and add your vote. The poll will be open through Friday. The results will be posted the day after so that everyone who wants to participate can get the author's books if need be. There is a thread where members give away their books to other members. Any questions at all just ask, same for suggestions or ideas. If you would like to be added to the list of people that receives group update notes, please add Diamondgirl as a friend and leave her a note letting her know that you want Chiller updates.
It is the most imaginative book I've ever read. Totally original and grand in scope. the characters are amazing and so is the world.
