I have not been able to get through Fledgling. It's so upsetting. I'm not into the vamire thing so much. I would suggest Kindred first. Now, that was awesome. And a large portion of the book takes place on a plantation so you really might enjoy it.

More exciting news at the Suspense & Thrillers Group…as you might already know that Keith Katsikas, author of “2060: The Newton Prophecies” will be leading a discussion on his book. We don’t have a date set up yet, but will in a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, Amanda Stevens, author of THE DOLLMAKER, has also agreed to lead the discussion for May’s Group Read, which is THE DOLLMAKER. I’m really excited as this is something new and might become a new trend with our group discussions. If you’ve already read the book, come join us. If not, see if you can grab a copy. There’s still time as the discussion won’t begin until the first week of May.

Hi Eugenia. I haven't seen the movie version of The Human Stain, but love the book so far. I love Roth's humor and sarcasm, and the characters are just pitiful. lol. I must admit, my ADHD has led me to an intermission. I'm now reading The Kite Runner (the movie made my cry myself into a headache and I LOVED A Thousand Splendid Suns), Lost Hearts in Italy (I'm struggling to get through this book, and have vowed to finish what I start) and Gotham Writers' Workshop Writing Fiction: The Practical Guide.

    Hi Eugenia,
    LOL!
Fanon was a challenge to a bunch of us 16 year olds (back in 1968). 'Word Wealth' didn't help us with the words Frantz was droppin'!

    Hello Eugenia,
Thanks for the invite! I noticed Frantz Fanon on your bookshelf. I read him in high school (confession: I didn't understand a word he wrote!); and I should revisit his writings! Please consider joining our group 'ROOTS' for discussions on historical sagas, novels and books depicting cultural ideologies of our ancestors. Something like that! LOL

    Peace,

    Hello Eugenia,
Thank you for your friend request! I love reading Octavia Butler! I think that she is a science fiction genius! I purchased a book by Nalo Hopskinson, "Salt Roads," and I plan on reading it after I finish some other books on my reading list. I am on my way to check out your shelf! I am looking forward to chatting with you and reviewing books on Shelfari.
