    Hello, Shawn.
I fly Cessnas, mostly, but since I used to work for an airplane dealer I've been checked out on a lot of single engine stuff. You?

    Shawn,
Thanks for the suggestion. I will take it to heart. I definitely have my work cut out for me next time I go book shopping since I was gifted this Christmas with a B&N gift card and a new bookcase which I desperately needed. What are you reading right now? I hope you had an abundant, festive holiday and I wish you plenty of cozy winter reading ahead!

    Hi Shawn,

I've only read Little Children so far but I enjoyed Perrotta's writing and I would love to read more of his books. I noticed he just came out with another new title, The Abstinence Teacher. I stumbled upon it while doing my Christmas shopping this year and made a mental note to add it to my wish list. I will also have to check out Joe College now. It sounds like a premise I would enjoy.

    Merry Christmas~

    Hi:

I thought you might be interested in a contest. It’s wacky, creative and ‘killer’ fun. ‘Create a Corpse’ Contest lets you name a character in my suspense novel Divine Justice. Of course, you guessed it—the character dies

For contest details, just scroll over the following URL, copy and paste into your browser. This is a great contest for avid readers who’d like to be part of the process. I look forward to receiving your entries. :)

Man dude, you go hard for the early American's. I have to take it in bits and pieces. One book feathered into every five.

I'm just finishing Bryson's, A Short History of Nearly Everything. This is my second time through it.

Go Cubs... and go now... because you're about to blow it. Hurry, go! Dave

Why not weigh in your take of a discussion posted in "shelfari discussion": can reading be a substitute for sexual pleasure?

I read Ideological Origins in college for a class on Literature and the American Revolution. That was about 18 years ago...and you know how it is with required reading vs. reading you choose on your own...Since I still have the book though, I ought to give it a second chance!

My classics list is mainly compiled with the idea that those books would spark the most interest in and hold the most relevance for every-day readers, if that helps explain the method of omissions ;)

Thanks Emerald. You know how it goes, we all have our favorites. Grapes of Wrath is a wonderful example of good straightforward writing. I just remember finding it depressing the last time I read it, and perhaps a bit long. But I won't argue it's a classic!

Hello! I hope you've had an enjoyable summer! I've been sticking with classic fiction for the past few months, but feel as though the fall is a great time to delve back into history books. Any good book discoveries recently?
