Hm....Ok. So how new is this site that I was able to nail the name "Draco" in the midst of the Potter craze? This is only the second time ever I've managed this. Such spiffness. :) Oh, and for those who don't know me in person, I am one of the pre-Potter, pre-Dragonheart Dracos. Merf. Don't know of any other well known Dracos.

Yeah it is taking me awhile to read! I think I have been on it maybe 2 weeks now. Almost done though! I am on about page 650. I really like it but its so long I am just kind of ready for it to be over. I like shorter books :) Oh and yeah, my to read pile grows more and more every day. I am always finding new books on here I want to read. :)

Actually, I was surprised by how much I liked it. Mignola does some nice, but skimpy illustrations--he can do much more than you see in the book. Golden is someone I've always seen as a bit of a hack, but his pacing and characters in this were above his par. I'd wait for the paperback.

    HAHAHA!!

Too funny.... That's what happens though...

That's like when the cat disappeared in the hotel room. We have no idea where she went, but all of a sudden, one morning she was on the top of the door (how?!?!?!? No clue whatsoever) just looking down at me like "what's the deal, I'm here... Where's food?"

lol... Sorry, kinda hard to see what Eramus is... Adorable though... Sounds just like a rat, all sneeky and cunning.... :-)

I used to have a gerbil that studied under Houdini... Seriously! He got out of a cage that was three times taller than him, with only one thing half as tall as him in the cage, past the screen that locked in place (with a big rock on top of it), down to the floor (glass pen on top of my dresser), and across the room, into my other dresser, into the bottom drawer. All while avoiding the large mouser cat.

    Houdini.

    Ok... Hi!

I'm sorry, the little mouse/gerbil (?) got my attention, and I read your profile/bookshelf. How could I not request to be a friend?

that is a tough one, as i started reading adult lit at about age 10-11, and i still love some YA works today, i have a hard time with figuring the age thing, but as there is some pretty graphic stuff in the book i dont think it would be considered for under 18. if you mean what age segment of the adult market, no idea who it would most appeal to, i think, at least for white people, under 60, because too many of them would get defensive about some of the things white folks do in the book, but then some of my test readers are older than that and white and do not have an issue, so....

wow! i just sent you a comment and it disappeared. weird... anyway, i'll try again:
thanks for the kind words regarding my reading and writing. i do value your opinion. as to the cover, that is lulu.com's default and as i do not plan to actually self publish, i hope my eventual publisher will have some ideas...
i created the ebook so folks like yourself could read and comment before i puit the finishing touches and sent it out for submission. (so far, i have had 34 folks download it and many have passed on helpful tips! your comments regarding bubba are dead on, in fact, i had thought of that a while back and meant to change him back either to his formal name robert or at least bobby, but i had forgotten. i really appreciate that insight as well as the cover comments. let me know if you get a chance to read any of the ebook, i know there is a good bit of grammar work yet to be done, my wife the journaist is helping with that!

thanks, yeah, the lulu cover is a their default, and as i do not intend to self publish, but wanted to allow others to read it and give me feedback before my final shoppable draft, i didn't worry about the cover. i hope my eventual publisher will have some cover ideas.thanks for the compliments on reading and writing. as to bubba, i have thoguht of that recenty, and had just forgotten. i think you are right. it would have been a likely name, but it has taken on a conotation that i do not think this character represents. i mean he is a bit of a racist loser, but he comes from a "good family" more likely someone with a iii or iv after his name than a bubba as we think of them today... i think i will do a find and change and name him Jefferson or Thomas or maybe at least use his "real name" Robert, maybe Bobby?

Draco, i read your comments about burbs. this is what i am considering for my nove. just wondered as a profrssiona book browser, does it grab you?

Not since “The Fall of the House of Usher” has a family imploded so completely. Killer dogs, rapes, murders, fires, farming accidents and poison follow the Davis clan like an Old Testament curse.

From the first chapter of “May’s Hill” where Bubba buys African wild dogs, inspired an old black and white TV nature show, until the tragic ending, there is a mighty shadow over the family. That shadow is a young slave girl named May. The innocent events in a chicken house across the river a hundred years earlier send May to Davis Hill.

May’s journey from victimized slave girl to landed free woman reorders the Davis plantation. She continues, long after her death, to be felt in the lives of the black and white residents of Davis Hill. Even the Angel of Death, who rolls in driving a big blue Cadillac, is the seed of May, come to exact a vengeful justice.

yes'm. i'm stuck in eastern washington for a while. and oddly enough, the more time i spend over here, the more i can see myself re-building my life here. i think this is where i'm meant to be, maybe not forever, but at least for a long period of time. *tear* how are things on your end? (by the way, even if i WANTED to work at the big B again, i don't think i'd get re-hired)
